Tip: read up on object oriented programming before entering this class. As an absolute novice programming student, this class was one of the toughest I've ever taken, and his style(or lack thereof) of "teaching" doesn't help at all. Go over C# and OOP basics on your free time if don't already know, he won't bother to do it in class.

Unfortunately I had a family matter come up during the semester which caused me to miss significant time. I kept in contact with Professor Kinber and was able to make up work that I had missed. I should have gotten a D in this course, but through some hard work at the end of the semester and a great Professor, I finished with a C.

Kinber is brilliant, but often not understandable. His grasp on the English language is minimal, and the class could be made so much easier by finding a professor that knows how to speak English properly. Use resources, the TA and Google, and you should be fine.

I don't understand how anybody can say that this guy was their favorite professor. He is extremely difficult to understand with his accent. He jumps around a lot. If you ask him a question, he insults you and tells you that you should know the answer to that already. Very boring to listen to and impossible to understand. Worst professor by far.

This class is all about math and CS logic. In order to succeed (get an A) show up for class, do each homework assignment, and study for each test. His tests are fairly simple, as there are only about 10 questions (similar to the HW problems). Work load is just right.

Its not like you can't understand him but you find yourself concentrating on what hes trying to say rather than learning. The concept of discrete structures could be taught in half the amount of time with someone who speaks fluent english. I learned DS through google. Easier grader though.

Yes, he is a really really smart man; however, it is usually very hard to understand what he is saying. Do not come to class late, or he will yell at you and ask if you were out partying. I found it really hard to stay awake in his class because he talked so monotone the entire class period.

Probably one of the most brilliant people I've ever met. His delivery is sometimes difficult and he requires students to both pay close attention and be well prepared, expectations that are high for an American school in this tier.

I do have to admit, he has an accent and is sometimes hard to understand. However, I think he is very nice and very helpful. He goes through the programs step by step so it is easy to follow. He weeds out serious CS majors within the first couple of weeks

he is impossible...as a person he is not helpful or kind or willing to listen to you...he doesnt answer questions, he doesnt clarify anything and to top it all off he laughs or sneers at you if you dont understand him
