Eileen is an excellent flutist and a great teacher. She is sympathetic to student workloads and will not push you too hard. You get out of lessons what you put in to them. She is not very organized and often forgets things. Eileen cares about her students, thus the studio refers to her as "flute mom."

I don't think she focuses enough on technique, and additionally she doesn't seem to have any guideline for why she gives certain grades. Sympathetic, yes, but I want a teacher, not someone to cry to.

Comment:
A very talented and active performer, and a motivational and inspiring teacher. I would not have survived without the support and guidance from Eileen. Granted, it was a bumpy road when I first started with her, but we made it! She has taught me so much about flute playing, about the joy of listening to and performing music, and all about life.

I had lessons with Mrs. Grycky a while back, now... in the late '90s. People mention her constant being busy, but I think she has a lesson to teach us. SHe was struggling with very horrible health problems with both herself and her husband, but she always found time for her students, even if she did

She is awesome at performance and at teaching. She knows her stuff and will do anything to help you. She's very busy but will make up lessons to the best of her ability. I look forward to this class every week!

I was a music ed major, she was my flute instructor, 1992-1994. Ms. Grycky has a kind heart but is too busy and too frazzled to be most effective. Missed a lot of scheduled lessons. Performance required for an A. Hope you like emotional!
