I took classes with Scully when I was at Bennington 10 years ago. Eileen is brilliant. The kind of intelligent that makes you understand people are called "sharp". I was a bio major, but her classes have stuck with me and shaped how I understand politics and the world to this day. I only wish I could talk with her again in these trying times.

Her classes are wonderful and I especially liked the large amount of papers she assigns. Now that I'm taking more mainstream history courses, I miss her classes where we were able to have a little more elbow room for putting out ideas in both speaking and writing.

Oh, Scully. She's a passionate historian and incredibly available, but nice to a fault. The class needed to be reigned in a lot-- her hands-off teaching style is good in theory, but with some of her classes it was kind of like assuming that a bunch of monkeys will build model ships if you gave them the right materials. I could have used a bit more teacherly discipline.

Eileen has a very unique teaching style that I as a student have enjoyed. With regards to papers she takes them home and really analyzed them, which is evidenced by the fact that her writting is all over them. She is always available if you need to speak with her after class.

Scully is an amazing lady and teacher. She's extremely helpful and you can tell she is genuinely interested in what she teaches. Even though I was failing her class she pulled out all the stops and helped me to pass. Awesome lady.

I thought I liked history all right, but I had no idea that REALLY LIKING history, hard-core Scully-style, involved devoting so many hours to reading. She's very fair, though, and she tries hard to keep the class engaged.
