Comment:
Midterms are easy. Her final is a little difficult but she curves A LOT. Some questions from the final and midterms are taken from class examples, tutorials, and assignments, so go to class to take pics of her slides. Elena is very sweet, and very approachable outside of the class, always willing to help her students.

It does take some effort to understand her, however it's not THAT bad. Students can get very disrespectful and have full-volume conversation in the middle of her lectures. We get it, you don't want to be there, at least have the decency to let others (unsuccessfully) attempt to understand. Best advice: Keep the textbook close to you. #ridethecurve

Took Optics with her. Cannot comprehend a word of what she says or what she writes on the board. You can find most resources to learn online. Her midterms are fairly easy. Final is extremely difficult but then she curves for the final grade.

Randomly leaves the course mid way and her GA's take over who are more disorganized and More lost than she is. They cannot even properly input marks or apply proper curves. Take the "harder physics" you will get a better mark and learn more as I decided to take that course rather than redo life sciences!

All she does is read slides from the textbook to teach physics. The two do not mix. Don't bother coming to class. She also doesn't show up to class sometimes, without letting the class know. I wish I could say that I learned something from her in her physics classes, but we all know (including herself) that she is simply a sorry excuse for a prof.

Yeah she has an accent and yeah her lectures aren't the greatest but she gives you EVERYTHING you need to succeed. She doesn't post slide so go to lecture to take pictures. Midterms are challenging but this is physics after all and you have to study all the notes, tutorials, class examples and theory. Exams m/c so no part marks but she curves a lot

The class is not extremely difficult and the midterms are short and to the point. Do not even bother going to the class, as she is very difficult to understand and her notes and copy-pasted from the textbook. I would say the textbook is a must.

She's extremely hard to understand, and the fact that she's constantly talking into the board doesn't help this. She never pays attention or acknowledges that the class is even there, she just reads her notes and copies them on the board. Good thing is her notes are easy to follow, if you can read her awful handwriting. Not a terribly hard course.

Dr. Maeva is difficult to understand at times but you'll get used to her accent. Her exams are fair. Go to class, read the book, grasp the concepts and do every assigned question, including the lab tutorials and you're guaranteed an A. Exams are fair as she pulls questions from homework and curves very generously (could be due to low class avg)

EXTREMELY hard to understand, straight from Russia.... so you basically have to teach yourself, which is why I recommend the book.. she knows her stuff but you just can't understand her... not a good choice from the university having her as a prof for people who have never taken physics

Hard to understand at first, but you get used to her accent. No control over the class but is very nice. She hands out bonus marks if you answer questions in class and all material is basically a review of grade 11/12. Assignments are an easy 100%. Study tutorial and assignment questions as well as any examples done in class and the exams are fine.

I have a lovehate relationship with this professor. I cant understand her, and shes hard on the outside, but if you go to her office hours and explain your difficulties she will be there for you. Need to go to class to see practice probs, she tells you exactly whats on the tests, and she curves a lot.

Did not enjoy taking this class with her. She only tests on practice problems, so all you do is memorize, the rest of lecture is pointless. She's russian and hard to understand sometimes and basically tells you that you're stupid if you ask a question or get a question wrong on the exam. Hated this class!

Besides her accent, not a hard course if you put effort into it. I went over the chapters very slowly so I could understand them (I didn't really pay attention to what she said in class; I just wrote whatever she said) and studied a few nights before. Very easy :)

She seems like a nice lady but her problem solving methods are more complicated than they have to be which makes for a hard class.

She's really fair. All of the questions on the exams and midterms are stuff she covered in class, the assignments, or problem solving. If you know how to do those problems an A+ is not hard to acheive. Really helpful and will go over the midterms with u individually in detail.
