She is terrible at explaining things. She says you can come to her for help but then she doesn't help you. She is very condescending in the way she talks. If you have the choice, do not take her.

She is very hard to understand with her accent. This class was like a math history class. Her tests are hard and she is a very harsh grader. Would not take. I have done very well in my math classes and loved math until this quarter.

By far the worst teacher I have ever taken. She may know the material but if you can even understand her English, you won't understand her math instruction. All she does is yell at the class to "go back to pre-algebra" and claim she taught us everything we need to know for her tests (when in reality we skip so many sections we didn't learn at all).

When she asks questions people don't understand her and vice versa. Answers your question wanother question. Doesn't manage her time well. You won't know your grade; she doesn't use canvas. Definitely do not take a class with her if you aren't confident in your mathematical ability.

She tries to help her students and told us to come to her office and ask for help but even though I did this ito didn't really help. She also teaches different methods than other professors teach, and her way is the only way if you want to pass her class, even the plus group'so ways where wrong.

Some students seems to find her helpful, especially outside of class. But in my experience going to her office hours is no help at all. If you don't understand after a few minutes, she is condescending. The subject itself is hard, but that doesn't mean she isn't also a terrible prof. I've completely lost my ability to care about math.

Worst Teacher in this Math Department. And the Math department is the worst among the school. I had to learn all of the material outside of class because she didnt teach she just yelled at us everyday.

She is one of the worst professors I have ever had. She is very difficult to understand. She only pays attention to the very few students that are doing well. She is very rude. I honestly don't know how she is still teaching. She knows the material, but does not care about the students eager to learn, but are struggling.

Hard to understand. Doesn't understand students questions. Teaches the theorems and expects you to be able to do very complicated problems based on the theorem. When doing a problem, skips many steps and won't clarify. If you can, wait to take a different math teacher.

She is very difficult to understand and learn from. She knows her stuff but from a very old mindset and cannot communicate or understand new learning styles. She is condescending and will make you lose incentive to do well. I joined, eager to continue chem/physics classes and I did better in both of those classes. She will kill your self assurance.

She is extremely smart and really knows her stuff. That said, she is hard to understand and she teaches up to the students who already know the material, and combines many steps in one without clarifying. Only take her if you have to or have a good understanding of calculus already.

She is absolutely HORRIBLE, She is constantly chastising those that strive to do well but are falling short while she could care less about those that don't come to class ever, but gives people who miss one day a hard time. She talks down to her students and makes them feel incompetent. She is extremely rude, I advise staying away.

She also serves the role of a coach and a mentor, which I feel is every teacher's core responsibility. She is very patient with all her students, their aptitude and attitude, both. Took her for three courses; she had worked extra hard to help us get a good strong hold of the basic concepts in the first quarter itself so that we can build on them.

Toneva would spend hours with me in her office. Most profs are not as friendly. She grades fairly, unlike other profs at EWU. The class is hard, but there are a lot of resources online if a student is struggling. Hard prof, but fair.

I have had Dr. Toneva for 4 classes. Many people complain that she is a bad teacher, however I believe it is the classes themselves that people have difficulty with. She will gladly spend hours outside the classroom with her students if you simply ask.

I have had Dr. Toneva for two upper math classes and i have learned a lot in both. If you have trouble understanding her after a week of class, you just aren't listening. She is incredibly intelligent and really knows her subject. Difficult courses, but she's very understanding and is willing to help all her students. ;-)
