Great teacher, great personality, great inspiration... SAID NO ONE EVER. Disrespectful to students, created an environment for students where they were afraid to ask her questions, terrible communication with both TAs and the students. 0/4

I constantly lament the fact that I have to pay tuition for this level of instructional quality. Horrible instructor. Vague homework, superficial lecture, stupid jokes and confusing "hands on" demonstrations that explain nothing coherently. Sometimes it seems like she's performing for you to like her instead of actually teaching.

Elizabeth Boese is a terrible instructor. All of the classes she teaches are bad, but this semester she's teaching data mining, and it is by far the worst. I don't think she has any idea how to teach, and she doesn't seem to have a strong understanding of the material herself. Don't take this class with her, or any class with her if you can help it

Extremely rude and demeaning to students. Absolutely adjust your course plan to avoid her as an instructor. Will expect you to have her level of experience and insult you for not understanding brand new concepts. I expect to receive an A in the course but only because I spend about 15 hours a week teaching myself. Her grading criteria seems random.

The level of salt in this class is ridiculous. Is the material tough? Absolutely. She made clear in the beginning that she will try to guide you to learn it yourself, not hold your hand. She manages a 300 person lecture hall better than any prof I've had here so far. Her lectures cover the material really well, she demonstrates concepts clearly.

She goes through slides very quickly without explaining them very well. Also, the slides she posts online are incomplete because she expects you to be able to fill them in while she goes over them very quickly. Very hard to take good notes in the class and not good at answering questions. The TA's are very helpful.

In her class for a week before I dropped. Went to her office hours twice and she was very condescending and told me to figure it out myself. Teaches like everyone's already at her level of expertise. I know programming is mostly self-taught, but makes no effort to explain how a piece of code works when doing examples. Very unprofessional professor

TERRIBLE TEACHER! Everyone in the CS department hates her. Doesn't use COG, has mental breakdown because "student don't follow instructions" even tho her homework assignments are poorly written. Makes you feel bad about not knowing something. Refuses to answer questions.

She is condescending, makes terrible jokes and doesn't use her own material for labs. Expect her to nit pick your work and look to take points off for the smallest issues. Really thinks she's funny but its mostly cringe worthy. You'll learn very little about a lot of things. Don't take if you dont have to. She is at CU now, not CSU.

Mrs Boese knows how to code through years of repetitive coding. For first time programmers, she is not teaching rather dictating. He coding pattern is highly repetitive. The worse part is that she does not bring any new idea to class. Everything is boring and drools along. Not hot.

Poor teaching, disorganized, and a lack of respect for her students. She belittles students in class and uses passive-aggressive tactics to elicit sympathy. Class is intentionally vague, and then graded harshly. Overall one of the worst professors in the computer Science department.

This class involved a lot of self-guided work. She probably only goes over 75% of what you will need for the assignment. She asked for feedback about the class and then told everyone how the feedback they gave was wrong and therefore invalid. Once spent 20 minutes of a 50 minute class arguing with a student. She did give some helpful examples.

By far the worst teacher I've had at CU. Never responded to emails and was extremely disorganized. Assignments were too easy and required almost no effort to design.

I had passed experienced with the subject before I took this course. The professor usually teaches by powerpoint and shows a few examples, kinda typical for a CS class. She tries to make lecture fun, which keeps the attention of most students. She's a tough grader, but don't let that scare you, if you pay attention & do the assignments, you'll fine

Liz was pretty cool. She has a lot of energy, though students should be prepared for plenty of self-guided work. Very easy-going and approachable. I enjoyed her classes. Get her talking about cycling or travel some time.

Her grading criteria was completely incomprehensible. Seemed to make up things to mark wrong. She seems to have a personal preference for how to code, and she forces everyone to code in her style rather than just making sure the code is correct or not. She may know her stuff, but she simply can't teach at all.
