Dr. Cohen is a great professor. While yes, the class is heavy on lecture, she gives clear and detailed notes. Extra Credit opportunities were given with every quiz and exam. If you want to earn an A in her class just show up for class and do the homework, it's not that hard. If you don't pass the class, that's on you.

Dr. Cohen is fine, I liked her better in 104 than 105 but I hate her teaching style. She lectures too much and stuffs your brain with too much information without giving you a break. Quizzes are weekly but shell lecture you on something that shell quiz you on two weeks later & then doesnt brief you again. 105 is HARD & she goes too fast

She's a tough grader, and treats the class like your major is chemistry, like you are going to be a chemist... When really most people are taking ch104 for certain programs at mhcc.

Nobody in class likes her! She's way too difficult and makes fun of people who get the wrong answers!! Office hours are only for one person at a time. 0/10 WOULD NOT recommend This is community college not a university

Cohen is not approachable at all. She teaches at a community college, but acts as if its a university level. Given that chem 104 is basic chemistry (entry level) she expects you to know so much! Because chem 104 is the foundation for future chem classes I would not recommend her to anyone.

Elizabeth Cohen is very intelligent. She is really helpful, although the class is very difficult. Be prepared to take LOTS of notes in class, never miss class, go to office hours, and put in the time to achieve good grades. She has high expectations for her students and will go out of her way to help her students succeed.

Intelligent and good at communicating ideas. What more do you want in a prof? Don't miss lecture, turn in your labs, ask questions, and put in good study time you'll do fine.

You have to go to class and do the reading homework. I appreciated her analogies about electrons and sugar high children. I took really detailed notes. If you leave class after an exam is returned, she will often offer the remaining students extra credit. Yay for me! I was intimidated by chemistry but ended up doing really well b/c of her!

You have to take the initiative to study with others, and use the tutoring center. She responds to emails at night. Go to her office hours. Although her material is difficult, you will understand it better than those in other institutions. Be prepared for a mental challenge. Try to read ahead so the lectures make more sense. Labs are long but fun.

I learned more trying to teach myself and spending just as much time in the tutoring center as I did in class and I STILL didn't do good in her class. She's really rude and makes you feel so stupid. I loved college until I took her class. Take anyone but Cohen..

Dr. Cohen is a good teacher, do not get me wrong. However, she belongs at a university as a tenyard teaching gradschool, not basic level chemistry. She is on the rude side. If you do not understand something there is no sense in asking her foor help she can make you feel inadaquatly stupid.

Cohen is far from clear when it comes to her lectures. When she tries to explain things to you she talks to you as if you should already know this and its a waste of time for her to explain it to you. She is really unapproachable and will call you out and make you feel stupid for asking a question. Strongly recommend to take a diff teacher.

Mrs. Cohen was an excellent teacher, and if students were willing to put in the time necessary to study and learn the material, the class wasn't too difficult. She was always available to answer questions and had some cool tricks to remember chem formulas. I learned more from her than any other professor at MHCC - definitely recommend her class.

She really knows chemistry inside out and does a great job of teaching it.She is very kind to the class and is funny(humorous). If you think this will be an easy 5 credits, guess again! This class covers a large amount of Chemistry and requires you to participate and either use the tutorial center or study in your own time.

Here teaching style is OK. She definitely is smart and knows what she's talking about. The only downfall to her class is that she doesn't use power point, therefore, you can't review lecture notes when you study. I take my own notes in her class, but it would've been so helpful to have them on the portal.

Teacher is very unorganized and doesn't know the answers to students questions, nor does she seem to care. Uses bad analogies about children that make no sense, and her office hour is a "What do you want?" hour. NEVER responds to e-mails, or is extremely late in doing so with one-word or one-sentence answers. Take this teacher at your own risk.

This class was not easy and Dr. Cohen stands as a University level professor. Everyone moaning in the prior posts should prepare to be complete failures once they reach a 4 year university where the professors could give a rats terd about you and office hours are virtually non-existent. Cheers to Dr. Cohen for preparing me for university.

This is not the class you can mess around at. You gotta read everything within the chapters and prepare your notebook before lab. Despite all of these reasons, I recommend her for any dedicated chemistry/biology major. Honestly because of her teaching ways, I am a stronger student now, I do not regret taking her. She will change you for the better.
