If you have a hard time going to class don't take this course. The discussion sections are a joke but they're not on fridays so thats a huge plus. Quizzes throughout the semester yet some are hard some are a breeze. Even if you can't draw or aren't artistic I highly recommend this easy A

Dr. Garber is a great professor! I was never really interested in art, and she totally changed my perspective. She in an expert, a good lecturer, and gives you all the tools you need to get an A. It's also a fun class because you get to make art and be creative!

I'm an avid art lover but Dr. Garber often uses art that is so modern and weird that it's hard to take her examples seriously. Attendance is mandatory but often class feels like a waste of time, with lectures that are only 30 min long with little content. Discussions are better, but most assignments feel like busy work and aren't interesting.

Students will learn basic ideas about different methods and theories in this course. However, it's like blinder leads blinder. Professor in this class just like a participant. She didn't appropriately guide students to right direction. After taking this class, most of students feel more confusing.

One of the best professor, she is really helpful and knowledgeable. I also think she is nice. If you do what you supposed to do as a student(always complete readings before the classes,put efforts on assignments...etc), you will get an A.

Yes Garber is difficult, but you are learning from an expert! She is a bad-ass in the field of art and visual culture education and leading expert. If you want to learn from the best, she is the best. Her expectations are very high of all students--and that exhibits an outstanding professor.

I am a physio major and took this class as a requirement for a gen ed art class. I have never taken a tier one art class that requires so much work. I have much more difficult classes that require a lot of time and attention. The "quizzes" are more like tests and there are 4 of them. I don't recommend this class to anyone unless you're an art major

Unless you are an art major or familiar with the field you will struggle in this course. The lectures have little flow and she makes the test very vague! If you have a harder and more relevant major than art do not take this course. I am a science major and did not have time to study what some starving artist made out of scrap metal in their garage

This class is really hard if you're not creative, like me. I think its a harder gen ed than most. The journal is graded pretty hard.If you do the honors section, Garber teaches it and shes super nice.

Garber is clear about what is required in the class and none of the assignments/tests are difficult, so as long as you don't blow anything off, it's an easy A. I'm not big into art, but I found the course interesting regardless. Garber tries to come off stern, but if you talk to her individually, she's very reasonable and accommodating.

This class assigns a lot of work!! Don't take unless you are really interested in art. You will have to do several art projects and keep a visual journal. The exams are fairly easy though. The lectures can be extremely boring, but Garber is a nice lady.

My favorite professor ever! She is intelligent, fun, funny, and has a brilliant mind. Class is "discussion" style so preparation is absolutely mandatory. She will help you be the best academic you can be. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
