In class, she goes through a power point and talks. the class is not hard at all. We had 5 units with 50 question, online tests at the end of each unit. The tests are not hard because you can use your notes but you do need to study and be familiar with the info. You will get a good grade. Homework is crossword puzzles

Class assignments were crossword puzzles, and then a 50 question exam per block. crosswords can be difficult if you aren't reading the PPs (which, at most, are around 150 slides). Prof said she's be happy to answer questions about the crosswords, but then accuses you of not doing to work and just looking for answers. Easy class, meh teacher.

Dr Hines is one of my favorite professors i've had at UNCW. She is very witty and made me laugh in almost every lecture. The tests are online making them extremely easy and attendance is not something to stress about in the class. Would absolutely take her again if she wasn't retiring.

Great teacher the type you wish all teachers were like! Her knowledge is vast and stimulating vs. the typical I know all teachers that think they are superior in knowledge but lack real hands on experience.

She has so much global travel experience, it's awesome hearing her talk about her travels and relate them to the class. All tests are online, final too. Only homework is crosswords puzzles to prep for her tests. Attendance not mandatory, but she may help bump up your grade if you attend class regularly and you end up border line letter grades.

Attendance is not mandatory and her lectures are long. She likes to talk about her travels a lot which can be interesting. All the tests are online and if you want a good grade, read the textbook and go over the online notes she gives. You don't really need to go to class to get a good grade on the tests. Just study!

This was her first time doing a hybrid seatedonline course. Take it during summer and pray she chooses to give it online! Much easier than her seated course.

Read the book during class. It's a better use of time than listening to the lecture. Lectures are about her personal trips. They can be interesting but not remotely relevant to the tests. You will have to memorize obscure cities and about 13 of them will be on the test. 30 multiple choice and 20 locate on map Qs. Do the extra credit.

I can honestly say this was the hardest class I have taken in college. It is not at all what I expected and I worked my butt off for a C+. If you are looking for an easy A DO NOT take this class. She is very passionate about her work so if this is a major class I'm sure she would be good but otherwise she is just confusing and slightly crazy.

It is a miracle that I received a B- in this class. She is a funny lady who loves what she does, but her lectures don't help much for the test. Unless she says "this is on the test" it's pretty much all useless. Memorization of cities, countries, rivers, mountains, etc on a map is required for tests and almost impossible. Good luck...

A nice and kind of kooky lady, but she's no help to do well on tests. All the class is is a slideshow of pictures of places she's been. You have to teach yourself all of the notes. Don't recommend her at all.

Dr. Hines is a very sweet and funny woman who truly cares about the subject. But the class is mainly a powerpoint with pictures on it which she talks about and it is not very helpful for the test. In order to do well you really have to STUDY!! Definitely look over the maps in the textbook and atlas.

This was the biggest waste of time. My friend told me she was easy but I struggled to hold on to a B in this class. Her lectures are boring and pointless. All you have to do to do well on the tests is study the night before on your own. But honestly don't take her if you don't have to.

Dr. Hines is an extremely interesting person! I really do enjoy going to her class because I love listening to her world travels but it seems like that's the only thing she talks about. She will mention things that will be on the test sometimes but you have to STUDY STUDY STUDY! She gives random pop quizzes to chart attendance.

What an informative lecturer with so many funny, crazy stories to tell about the globe and her traveling experiences. Truly enjoyable! Her tests can be hard, IF YOU DON'T GO TO CLASS...so go for the survival of your GPA, lol. She's real nice and very friendly. Also, do NOT take your phone out during class...she has a sixth sense, no joke!

I really enjoyed this teacher. She is very interested in what she teaches and I like how her power points have hardly any words because it makes it more interesting to pay attention to and I prefer to just listen. She also posts the power points online in case you need to go back for clarification.

Very funny and nice and interested in Geography. Tests are pretty hard though and the study guides only are about part of it. The tests are half questions and half maps. The map part is pretty easy but the questions are hard.

Dr. Hines lecture is basically her showing you pictures on a PowerPoint and her explaining it. The only assignments given are several online map quizzes and tests. She has an optional extra credit assignment but it could also harm your grades if done poorly. She comes off as being a nice person but I recommend taking another class.

You're going to have to memorize a ton of cities. And the multiple choice questions are pretty random. Her powerpoints are her talking about her travels. It's not a great class, but she's a good person and genuinely cares about the subject.
