Phelps is a great choice for Psych 101. Her lectures are very entertaining and engaging. Reading the book definitely helps, but taking good notes in her lectures and giving minimal attention in recitations got me a solid grade. She's pretty clear on what will be on the test and her lectures are online for easy studying

Phelps was such a great professor for being in a class with 180+ students. She was clear with explaining and giving good examples and she let you know what to study for the tests and final which was a big help. TAs always held 2 study sessions before tests too - big help! Options for EC added to grade if you do just 4 extra hours of research study

Dr. Phelps is an awesome professor for Intro to psych. This course covers so much information and she comes at it in a really organized way. She posts all the slides, and shows a lot of video clips. Sometimes she just reads off the slides but overall, her lectures and interesting and engaging. The tests cover a lot but are fair.

Interesting lectures, clearly passionate about her work. Very important to go to lectures, as videos from class are often questions on tests. Textbook helps as well.

amazing lectures, respected, really knows the material. she can be a bit intimidating at first because of how respected / accomplished she is, but her personality is very chill and she is always open to answering questions. however, grading sucks (3 exams, 1 final, 1 paper).

Great professor, really interesting. I didn't notice until I actually read the textbook (which you really should do) but she's cited/mentioned in the textbook numerous times. Just goes to show that she knows her stuff, if you didn't already figure that out from her great lectures.

Easy class if you go to lecture and read the book. She's passionate about the subject and is very clear what she's looking for in the exams. She basically tells you what to study. No reason to not get an A if you actually put in the work.

This was one of the easiest classes I have taken. Yeah, it's gonna be tough if you don't read the textbook and go to lecture, but if you do those things and keep up with the reading, it's really easy to get an A. Not a ridiculous amount of reading either. She makes the class really interesting and is clear about what she's looking for in her tests.

Prof. Phelps is knowledgeable and the nicest person you'll ever meet. However, the grading for the class sucks (based only 3/4 exams and a paper). TAs are horrible with the exception of Liz, they're awful at grading exams. Thankfully, recitation isn't mandatory. Can easily get an A even if you skip class, but make sure you memorize the textbook.

Test graders are really randomly specific and nitpicky, so know the exact textbook definitions of things. Phelps is great though. Go to lecture because the anecdotes really help you remember the material.

Absolutely brilliant professor! Explains things very clearly and tells funny stories that break up the material and help you remember it, as well. Tests are tough so don't skip lecture. Overall, a great class and the reason I am now a psych major.

Great class. Take Phelps for intro to psych. She's the bomb. The lecture notes are good enough and the lectures are clear so that you can understand easily. Sometimes graders are stupid, but if you try you can get an A.

I highly recommend this class. Professor Phelps is knowledgeable and passionate about psych. Information is conveyed clearly during lectures. She's not always available for office hours because the class is so large, but TAs help with specific questions

She's great! Incredibly intelligent woman. Really quirky and relatable. Makes the information interesting and tells hilarious anecdotes. Tests are really manageable if you attend lecture, not really necessary to read the book. I'd definitely recommend her to anyone interested in psychology.

Although I disagree with the people below, I find that Phelps was a great professor nonetheless. Her exams were manageable but the test graders were absolutely ruthless making it hard to get a solid A. I did pull off a B+ by attending all her lectures and reading the textbook. I really enjoyed the class and Phelps is purely amazing! :)

She's an awesome teacher, really knows her stuff and is able to communicate it to the class very well. Personally I dedicated the most time to this class, especially with reading the book, but it was worth it. As long as you read the chapters and review her slides getting an A is not hard.

Liz herself is great and gives really interesting lectures. Beware those of you looking to use this for an easy A Gen Ed. Test graders can be ruthless. I'm not a psych major (I'm in arts) and I found the tests didn't test whether I actually knew the material, but if I memorized it in the book's terms.
