Prof. Van Arragon is a sweet lady, but her class was long (almost 2 hours) so the struggle to stay awake is real (lights are dimmed the whole time for her PowerPoint and the chairs are comfortable). Bring coffee or snacks. There's a 5-min break after 1st hour. Art history involves lots of memorizing but she gives study guides to make things easier.

Van Arragon is so sweet and a great prof! The class is kinda nap-inducing, but if you engage with the lecture and ask some questions its easier to pay attention. Also be advised: she puts no words on the slides. The whole lecture is arround 5 images. So LISTEN! There's lots of memorization for the tests, so use mnemonic devices and you're set.

She's really, really nice. She definitely LOVES to lecture. The class can definitely feel long but that's just the nature of an art history class. Overall a good professor, not a standout but nothing to complain about.

Really, really nice prof. Can be a bit disorganized, but she knows what she's talking about. The class can feel very long, and the lectures can be boring, but the projects are interesting. She wants people to succeed. Plus, she's not bad to look at!

Throughly enjoyed her, Have taken her for three classes and enjoyed every bit. The classes are long but I learned alot. She is very knowledgeable about the subject and is able to articulate it well. But memorization is key for this class

Well, she seemed nice enough. However, I fell asleep in that class everyday. She just repeats what is in the book... there's no point in reading the book AND attending the class.oh and memorize your bum off.thats what the tests are. drink something highly caffeinated before class. 2 hours of slides in the dark and freezing gezon.

Documentary film and photography is her passion so she really liked teaching but agreed with every retarded comment any one made which was frustrating. Shes nice and personable, but brown nose a little cuase i think she grades based on favoritism. a couple of papers and lots of boring reading. so be prepared to put some time in.

very strong lecturerr, very helpful outside of class as well, has a very broad scope, especially if you are interested in modern/contemporary art history/artistic practice (i.e. not for people that don't expect to ever hear 'ideology' or other really huge words again) excellent (but "hard" assignments as well to engage the class

it was an okay class- if you aren't into the "artsy talk" you will get annoyed like me! She is articulate, but I got so sick of hearing things like "cultural codes" and "ideology" and strange lingo that you may never hear again...her class is a lot of work and she is kinda hard to please.
