He is the nicest teacher and his lectures can be interesting sometimes. If you print out the powerpoints from Web Ct you don't really need to go to class. Make sure to do homework and he emails you to come to class for in class assignments. Easy!

He's one of the greatest Physics teachers at umd. His lectures are sometimes interesting. All of the lectures are from powerpoints so you could print them to follow along during lectures. The tests are ok if you study from the practice tests. Do your homework, they're kinda hard but your grade depends on it.

Tough course - good guy. Its a hard subject, its wildly interesting but not easy. Horch is a good teacher though, and he really want you to learn the subject well, not just slip through the course. He's a total geek though. Its pretty funny to watch him lecture.

Loves his physics, Lectures are clear and straight to the point. You can tell he really enjoys the subject but I can't say that for the rest of the class. Test questions come straight from the Power Point presentations which were downloadable.Easy Class

its a physics class designed for physics majors. Awsome guy, LOVES physics. Unfortunately the class has no real world application. He teaches with powerpoint, and has VERY hard tests, good luck!!

If you think you can skip almost every astronomy class without him noticing, you are sorely mistaken. Even though it is a large lecture hall, he makes it a personal goal to know everyone's name and work ethic. Kinda like the sitcom CHEERS. Very hard class

DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR ASTRONOMY. There are other profs that are much easier. These gen eds supposed to be somewhat easy and Horch does not see it that way. too much math for an intro astronomy class and hard exams.
