Overall, Dr. Walls is good instructor. The thing I admired most about him is his passion for what he teaches. There is no doubt about it, the man loves neuroscience. He lives for the opportunity to share his love for the subject with his students. While he is easily distracted and consistently digresses, Dr. Walls is really a sweet man.

The TA -especially a lady- is rude and not helpful at all. Dr. Walls is a very nice person but he likes to go off the topic a lot. It's a hard class and a class that you teach yourself how to study and actually learn.

This was an excellent class! Yes, memorizing parts of the brain comes along with an "Intro to Neuroscience" class - as should be expected. He offers extra credit opportunities for students actually interested. We dissected sheep brains & worked with a human brain. He drops many low grades so if you aren't doing well on quizzes, don't worry.

This is possibly one of the worst classes I have ever taken at Purdue. The teacher is good but likes to get off topic. Doesn't prepare the students for the exams. Gives pop quizzes weekly/ biweekly that are hard to pass even if you've been to lecture. You must read the book but even if you do, the exams are still extremely tricky. AVOID!!

It's a tough class with little clarification. Test averages are in the 60s. He does a weird test averaging that is difficult to understand. It is only offered at 7:30 AM. The TA's are closed off and unhelpful. Walls only cares about his class and likes to run over, so don't schedule anything immediately after. There's more of a focus on biology.

The class is very interesting but don't take it at 7:30 like I did. Walls has a very soothing voice and I fell asleep almost every day, which sucked cause paying attention in class answers a few exam questions. Also, print off the powerpoints, the exams are word for word from them!! ps, don't email him with questions, he won't respond.

He is very passionate but this class is hard. Don't take unless you love memorizing parts of the brain. Go to all outside review sessions and memorize the book. Lectures don't add anything to what's in the book. Multiple choice exams are extremely tricky.

I don't even know where to begin. Quite possibly the worst class I've ever taken. I got the lowest grade I've ever received in a class at Purdue. The classes are terribly boring, and if you would like to pass, you will need to memorize every sentence of the book. Nice guy, but should not be teaching as a living.

Woody is passionate about what he teaches and his TAs are very competent. Lectures may not be riveting but you will be offered interesting after-hours activities, review sessions, and as much help as you need. The fact that I failed this class had nothing to do with the teacher. Being Canadian, he *will* try to persuade you to join the hockey team.

Dr. Walls has so much passion for what he is teaching and he will do almost anything to help his students understand the material. He is available out of class. It's a good idea to know the textbook and there are pop quizzes in class.

He really is pretty good. If you ask for explanation, he's very available to speak with you about the subject and does lots of outside the class teaching to help you with understanding such as Biopsychology labs when the students are available. He was fun and I liked him a lot, but you need to read the book to pass. He teaches straight from it.

He is a very approachable teacher, however he uses lectures straight from the book and isn't great at teaching. However i enjoyed his class and he is flexible.

He has a very big passion for his work, but does a very poor job conveying all of his ideas to the students. His lectures appear to be the pre-made lectures the book provides, so basically lectures are equivalent to reading the book in class. Likes to rant about his rats and will go off on aside stories for 15 minutes at a time.

This man clearly has a passion for the material, but is a horrible teacher. He makes the class far too difficult due to his tendency to not focus on the important material and instead starts rambling on about one of his stories. He has turned a subject that I used to enjoy into something I can't stand. An introductory class should not be so hard
