I took Global Issues during the winter and honestly it wasn't that bad. When you first look at the syllabus it looks like a lot of work but it was not terrible. This class was very interesting to take online because you touch on touchy subjects but it's easier to voice your opinion and talk about your disagreements with the protection of a screen

The week before the class started I looked at the syllabus and thought it was going to be real tough. But once classes started and participated in class discussions it really wasn't bad at all. Theres a lot of researching and writing but you definitely learn a lot from it.

Interesting class. I took the accelerated version and although it was a lot of work, I enjoyed the class. Very involved, gives plenty of feedback. Good guy. Encouraging and fair grader. Lots of good examples to explain the subject matter.

The class is pretty easy, and he is a wicked nice professor. He is very understanding if you can't make it, and very easy to talk to if you aren't understanding something. It is mainly a lecture class though.

The main problem I had with Budd was that he did not explain how he grades. There were a ton of discussion boards and he did not grade you on what you wrote, just how many posts you had. He had all positive comments on all assignments, yet I received average grades with no explanation of why points were deducted. No rubric or anything

Took Global Issues online and loved it. He challenges you to think about the global issues going on today and has you discuss it on the discussion board with your classmates. He is very helpful and points out what he likes in your discussions and adds information to increase your knowledge.

Any time you ask how you did on something he says "good" no matter how you presented or what effort level you put into something. Everything I did was "good" and got an average grade every time. Also, he smiles through everything he says, even including topics like abuse, rape, death and illness. Quite creepy...

He cares about the material and seems really excited to be teaching it. Buying the books is useless. When writing test essays he likes refrences from reading assignments but you don't have to use the books for that because he also gives internet sources. That is the only time the books even come up. Pretty good class, not too hard.

Comment:

Dilemmas of Peace and War is a very bland class. I was expecting something much different than it turned out to be - maybe because it was his first time teaching it. 5 positions papers - 2/3 pages each (incredibly hard grader), 1 7-10 research paper, no tests. if you like debating issues, then definitely take this class. Overrall, disappointing.

He is great, ver nice, respectful and understanding. Just make sure you study all the notes, and I mean all the notes becasue you never really know what he will put on the tests. Only two tests and two papers. He is fun, not boring. He's my favorite teacher. Study, go to class, take notes and participate.
