Dr. Schwerer is awesome! He is of a rare breed of teachers that are respected and well-liked by pretty much all students. He is even-tempered, highly creative, and adept at analysis. He is good at getting the entire class involved and making everyone feel like an important part of class. His analysis of poetry is engaging, informative, and funny!

He really wants you to do your best work and do things differently than you are used to doing them. It's a lot of writing and a lot of reading but some of it really sparks some great writing. He's super nice and willing to meet you at anywhere on campus to discuss your writing. If you want to become a better writer, I would definitely take Eric!

I loved him!! He will make you a better writer and helps you be more comfortable with writing. Picks good books to read and then you write papers on them. Is very nice and very funny. Knows how to engage a class. very down to earth.

Schwerer Bear is great! Bit spacey, yes, but simply open-minded. Grades easy, useful criticism on poems. Class made me a better poet, I have no doubt. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND ERIC SCHWERER!!

This guy is out there but very cool and chill he picks out decent books to read. We read 4 books in a semester wrote about 8-10 papers which wasnt that bad as long as you read the books and reference them in your papers youll get a good grade

If some people are out in left field, Eric is in a VW MacroVan in the parking lot behind left field, but I love the guy. Absolutely made me a better writer from the first minute of the first class. I hope I can take more classes with him. A lot of work, but well worth the effort.

Ah, Eric... In class he seems like a complete nut job, but outside of his class he's a really awesome guy and very approachable. He really hacks into your work when you go to him for help but he taught me how to write a good poem. Would take again.

Dr. S. is clearly a poet. He has brilliant, insightful things to say about language. He requires the best from us--it's true, he can be very challenging, but it's worth it. I look at poetry and the world with much wider eyes since taking his class.
