This class was brutal! He is really nice and helpful but he definetly makes you work for it. Hes kind of intimidating to talk to but it is so important that you go to his office hours every chance you get, thats when I started to do better. Best advice for test Id say is study the hell out of ur quizzes, very similar to exams. Good luck!

Really awesome class! Its demanding, and you should expect to spend about 10 hrs/week on homework if you want an A. Dr. Dunmire is super organized, has very clear grading criteria, and is consistently involved with the virtual classroom.

BEST PROF! LOVED HIM! Lectures clear/concise. COME TO CLASS! Review notes. Use quizzes to study for exams. ASK questions! Use book for brief review but focus on what is taught in lecture and you'll be fine. NOT AN EASY CLASS-> its chem, you're gonna have to put in the time and effort. But he makes it possible to get a good grade, but do your part!

He is the greatest professor at College of Marin. Clear lectures. The class is not an easy A. The material is difficult but he makes things very clear. He is that kind of professor that if you don't miss a lecture, you don't need to read the book to prepare for the exams; he goes over everything with quality and great detail.

He makes the lectures easy to understand, with relatable everyday life examples. I felt he is concerned for you to LEARN the material rather than only pass. It is a tough class don't get me wrong and you probably have to dedicate time, but he makes the class FUN. I wish he was teaching the next series of this course!! Def. would take him again.

Online GE class. When I signed up I was worried it was going to be super difficult since it's a science class, but it was surprisingly interesting and not that hard! Make sure you put aside a few hours a week and make keep up with earning points EVERY WEEK. Don't get behind. I think it was a pretty easy class and I learned a lot! Highly recommend!

Organized and easy to follow online course. You need to do regular work but it's really not that hard. Lots and lots of opportunities to earn points. So lots of opportunity to get enough points to get an A. Highly recommend this class to get your physical sci. requirement done. Nice teacher too!

Excellent teacher. This is a real college level course. You have to put in the time and effort to read, review, do HW online, attend lectures & labs, write good lab reports. Class is structured to learn chem concepts and apply then apply your understanding to other situations. This is the real deal. Highly recommend if you want to transfer.

Easily one of the best professors I've ever had. Gave a clear syllabus and set of expectations at the beginning and has stuck to both. Lectures are on topic and engaging. Tests are worth a large portion of the grade, but often exam questions are from lecture and homework quizzes. Wish I'd had him for 131 also.

He is generally a good Materials science teacher. Will generally help if you ask, however its easy to miss lab stuff if you are not on it. He is a little obsessive but tends to clarify subjects into depth. Interesting labs. Typical easiness.

Dunmire made this class a struggle. He thought that students should already know everything he was teaching and he was unwilling to help if you did not understand things. In Lab I had to ask other students for help because his response to most questions would be that I should already know this, no help what is so ever from that prof. DONT TAKE HIM!

Tough class, condescending instructor. Interesting material, however, not applied to class goes beyond expectation and physics involved. Very poorly executed.

Taking chemistry with Dr. Dunmire was a big mistake. His class is like a self study course. His exams are Hard, questions are confusing and not clear . There are a lot of extra work you have to do for no extra credit!!

Excellent professor, and ultra-organized. The class I took required about 3 hours per week of outside class work. I didn't put in the time and just got a B.. put in the time and pay attention and you'll be fine.

Dr. Dunmire is a clear and gives well planned lectures. His tests are pretty hard so you really have to pay attention is the discussion period, because often very similar questions as those given then appear on the tests. He's always willing to help you understand concepts and he's a fair grader. You will learn a lot on this class!

I really love Dr. Dunmire. He's an amazing teacher and a very kind person. Lectures & Discussions were FUN; Lab was a NIGHTMARE. If you want an A, plan to spend at least 15 hrs outside of class studying and doing problems/discussion sets, and another 20 hrs preparing for Lab and typing up Lab Reports. No shortcuts. But, Dunmire is the best:D

Intelligent and attractive. He definitely has a love for the sciences. What I find to be true is this: if the professor loves the subject he or she is teaching, then the enthusiasm carries over to the student!

He has a hard time sticking to the subject we will be tested on. He goes on long rants about how awesome chemistry is and then doesn't have time to finish teaching us what will actually be on the test. I feel like i have to teach myself chemistry- which sucks a lot.
