He's a very inventive prof at the forefront of the Digital Humanities, and I learned a lot from him. The class was very dynamic and groupwork-heavy with a lot of really cool short readings, a class structure I really enjoyed. Not a super hard prof, but his classes are not for slackers either, especially with such small class sizes!

He's an amazing teacher. He is very clear about the things he expects but he is also understanding when you are struggling with the work load. He is willing to help and gives great advice on how to approach writing and reading. He really opened my eyes to how to read literature. I am definitely going to take more classes with him!

Professor Simpson has a gift for directing really good, lively discussions without getting too involved in them himself. He expects a lot of reading and writing from you (about a novel a week), but if you put in the work, he'll recognize it. He's professional, but also likes to joke around. Really nice guy, and a well-rounded teacher.

Great guy and helpful and encouraging advisor. Beware, it's hard to get A's if you're not a great writer. He's a tough grader, but not without reason. Expect lots of feedback on your essays and ample opportunity to revise. If you need to be a better writer, taking his class might not boost your GPA but you'll certainly improve your skills.

Use the resources he provides on his website relating to generating thesis statements and writing papers. I know you think that you know how to write and think, but you don't. He will show you how, and you will be happy with the results. So go to the website, and also craft interesting Blackboard responses, because he really cares.

Extremely helpful, knowledgeable, fascinating, skilled professor. I am not a English person in the least, but he guides class discussion in a way that made the time fly by. With every paper, he meets with you before and after you write it, providing you with excellent, cohesive, comprehensive feedback.
