If people dislike her.... and she can be a lot to handle.... it is because they aren't interested in exhibiting their intelligence. She requires work and she requires thought.... but you'll get out what you put in. I took 5 or 6 of her classes... I grad'd six yrs ago and think the world of her.

Honestly, the worst teacher I have ever had. She's really full of herself and is obsessed with Harry Potter. She has a troupe of little brownnosers and if you're not one of them, good luck! She was denied tenure and I'm glad to see her go.

This is a hard class, I'm not going to lie. However, Professor Fife is an amazing professor. She is so passionate about teaching. And she is funny, not dry like a lot of professors. She is well read and educated. It sucks that the school is making her leave. I think everyone should take a class with her. You won't regret it.

This lady is bad. She actually advised me not to take her class if I didn't need to. I actually took an interest, and she was discouraging. Well I did take the class, at another school with another professor who was much more understanding and encouraging.

If you're in her clique, you might be ok. If not, don't expect to be acknowledged in class discussions. Doesn't respond to email inquiries. Unprofessional dress and demeanor for college environment. She might play well with pre-schoolers, but would probably taunt and traumatize them for using broken macaroni shells on their mother's day cards.

This woman is on an insane power trip. Full of herself and overly specific in her expectations, she fails to understand the finer, more nuanced aspects of academia. I transfered from NP to a far more rigorous college after having her for a professor--I did not find the class' workload overwhelming--only the professor's smug, sneering demeanor.

amazing prof....very difficult but once you get to know her style and what is expectedit'll be okay...10 out of 30+ journals may sound easy..but they will NOT be accepted late and if by the end of your semester at LEAST 10 aren't handed in that's an automatic 20 points off of the final grade...usually 1000 possible points

God forbid you should have to read and write in a 400-level English class. Looks like the non-fans aren't willing to work. If you are (a lot), you'll get a lot out of her. The first class will kick your ass, but you'll be a better scholar for it. Hates comix and loves Disney, but AWESOME anyway.

I took this class because it fit my schedule. People told me it would be hard, but worth it. I'M SO GLAD I DID. Reading (1500+ pages), 10 out of 30 journals. Mid-term: rough draft of research paper. 150 pages each class, 2x week. She is an awesome teacher. Nice, extremely knowledgeable, helpful.

I HATE THIS TEACHER!!! She gives out sooo much reading, usually a book due each class period. Plus, she demands a research paper (and is SO anal), an oral, journals due (and if you miss the deadline, you miss out on your chance to hand it in). I can't stand her. She's annoying as hell.

Dr. Fife is an amazing teacher. She is demanding and it may seem like a load of work, but it is worth it. She is very well educated in a variety of areas, and has a certain southern charm, although her favorite characters are always the villain. A must take for any serious english student!
