This is a man who has been passionate about his field for probably 50 years. The kindest of souls and a wonderful connection to make at UK. Goes out of his way to help you if you ask for favors. He is always prepared for class and assigns insightful materials. You leave his class with much more knowledge and confidence in discussing your field.

Dr. Yanarella is absolutely fantastic: he cares about student perspective even though he is extremely well-versed and has spent many years working in his field. Extremely reliable, fair, and kind to those who put forth effort in class. Inspirational and someone you should meet and learn from. Great, witty person to talk to when you have free time.

Was hoping for much more from this course. Dr. Yanarella provides all of his notes prior to lectures, and then merely reads them. Class is quite monotonous. Your semester grade is determined by a Midterm (40%) and Final (60%). Grade distribution is standard, but you better hope you don't have an off day on exam day. Exams are in class essays.

The most influential professor I had the privilege of learning from at UK. Dry and monotone, but crazy intelligent. If you listen and partake, it will be very enjoyable as a learning experience. He is very helpful too if you get to know him.

His vocabulary far exceeds us mortals sometimes making the material difficult but i look forward to going to that class every day. Hes a very funny and he really does try to help you get a good grade. Attendance is not mandatory, two grades. Midterm and Final

Dr.Yarnarella does indeed have a dry sense of humor, and if you don''t participate in class you will be bored most of the time. But he is an excellent teacher and very educated man. If you answer a question and you're wrong, instead of trying to understand your point, he will simply say WRONG! But he does it will good intentions, he tries to get yo

Prof. Yanarella's class on the Auto Unions of North America was extremely interesting. Even though it was an online course, he was more than happy to correspond via email or meet in his office. Dr. Yanarella is a very gifted and captivating instructor.

Really liked this class, it was good to have at least one laid back class and really helps to boost your gpa. He's actually a witty individual when you listen to the comments he makes.

Not an easy class, but one of the most rewarding classes I have ever taken. Dr. Yanarella's class will make you think and work hard, but if you genuinely study and put in an adequate amount of effort you can get a B or an A. He does more than a lot of professors to ensure that students have ample opportunity to absorb the material and do well.

He can be boring at times but he's easy to get off topic. When you get into a class discussion, his comments are funny. Plus, he grades papers extremely leniently; it's an easy A class.

SO BORING! this guy is monotone, and i really don't think he knows what he's talking about. i thought 'crime and punishment in the U.S.' would be an interesting class; Yanarella's skill is making a seemingly fun subject my least favorite class EVER!!!

If you go to lecture, you will sleep through it. Make sure you do well on tests though b/c the only two grades all semester come from a midterm (40%) and a final (60%)

You'd think that since he taught from with dirty legal pad notes from the 70's (that looked like he laminated them with packing tape) that he'd know the material and be able to make it kind of interesting. Not true. Unless you have a device to pry your eyes open, do not take his classes!!

I had this guy last summer and he was very hard to understand, not flexible, non-understanding and very judgmentsal. Seemed to pick his favorite and then teach to him and alienate the others who were unclear about his jargon.
