midterm and final are not that hard. The multiple choice is a ridiculous and its hard to prepare for because he expects you memorize everything. The essay counts for 75% and he gives the prompts beforehand....so very easy. Over all enjoyed the class...

this class is horrible, he is the worst teacher i have ever had at LMU, i can honestly say that i did not learn ANYTHING in this class. quizzes are impossible even, he is so incredibly rude, picks favorites, made one girl cry, he is a total jerk. he is way too old and should not be still teaching, worst class i have ever taken.. avoid if possible

man..this was the easiest upper div class ever.. quizzes are easy at the end of class.. he basically tells you whats going to be on the quizzes.. cheat sheet for the 2 tests.. what more do you want.. papers where probably the hardest graded if you half assed.. stories made me laugh always.. tells it like it is.. good experience more than anything

the Sweens..interesting. he tells stories that aren't exactly what is in the books or notes so that you can relate and see the perspective of that history in todays world. much better than your average class. sometimes what he says is uncomfortable because thats the truth and he doesn't powder it up so its politically correct!!!.. much respect!!!

So awful! He is a nice man he's 87 and still teaching! It's like going to a melodrama every class period - he will get in your face and make you feel SO uncomfortable. Final is 4 essays u have to study for, SO indepth - and sitting in the class is far worse than having the crap beaten out of you. Don't take this class, he needs to retire asap!

Fr. Sweeney was one of my profs years ago. Few persons have had such impact on me, in school or life as a whole. When I look back on LMU he is one of my fondest memories. I also agree, go for the beadle job!

Very interesting class. Really nice guy and all notes are given to you. Attendance is mandatory but grading is fair, especially if you are on his good side. Very very helpful. Tells cool stories and tries to make class fun.

If you're looking for an easy class, this is it. It's not very mentally stimulating or academically challenging, but Father Sweeney is cool and funny in a weird way. There are quite a few quizzes, but they are very easy. Beware: lots of reading.

Sweeney is the most adorable thing in the world. Take this class because he is such a good guy and his stories are sooo hilarious. As far as learning goes you get out what you put in but i would highly recomend him!!!n He is the nicest man ever!
