She has 2 question, 100pt quizzes which are on random details of the readings. You can know the events of the reading but if you don't know what color shirt sargon is wearing, then you will fail the quiz. The study guides don't even remind me of the tests. I put off all my other classes in order to study for test 2 and I did worse than th firstest.

If you struggle in her class give up. Taking notes is simple with her, she'll write a word on the board, and just copy what she says about it. She gives study guides that list everything on the test. There are two in class essays, but she tells you the prompt ahead of time. Semi-daily quizzes are given on one page readings. Highly recommended.

she is an awesoem teacher, makes history really interesting. trys her best to make it easy to learn. have to go to class and take notes. tests are hard but if you study and take good notes you should be fine. her essay exams are not that hard if you study, but you never kjnow what topics you will get

Comment:

Dr. Mangie was very nice. You have to attend ALL the classes because the tests are based of her lecture and the text. She posts a Study Sheet 2 weeks before each exam, so if you study it really well, you'll do fine on the tests. Her class requires a lot of reading and paying attention. I really enjoyed her Ancient History class.

Really cute, little old lady, she uses personal vacation pictures in the lecture. Lectures are manditory if you want to pass the tests. By all means DO NOT take a make-up test, it's all essay and obscure information not covered in lectures. Quizzes are given everyday, but are EASY, 2 questions from a daily short reading.

Very good professor! Her class is not extremely easy - it does require coming to class every day, paying attention, taking notes, and reading the text, but she is there for any questions and assistance. Would take another class if she were the offered professor.

Really sweet lady. Class is not that difficult. If you attend the classes and take decent notes, you will do well. Offers several extra credit opportunities (including 5 points on each exam). Some of the material is boring, but she does the best she can with it.

nice lady, but her lectures drag. she repeats the same things over and over. her tests are suprisingly not that easy. you have to take notes on EVERYTHING she says, else you might miss something on the test.

Really interesting class. She is really good at explaining things. She gives quizzes almost everyday, but they are easy (only 2 questions) and they are based on selected readings. There are only 2 exams and a final. If you pay attention in class and read the material then the tests are a breeze. She repeats things for a reason. So pay attention.

Honestly the class had alot of work entailed for a level two- im a history major and the class was boring. She gives a quiz every class from the readings and her tests are pretty hard considering the class average for our midterm was a 70. Im a A student and i have a 82 right now- dont take this class there has to be an easier one

She is one for repeating what she says almost every single class. Shes amusing at times, however the test are NOT as easy as every expects them to be. They're a lot of detail.If you take down every single note she says, and study really hard..you shouldn't have a problem. However, there is a quiz nearly every class, and those are a must study for.

Tests were not as easy as you would think and lectures were hard to pay attention--but lets face it history isnt the most interesting of subjects. Reading quizes were almost every lecture. Not a bad teacher to take for this class.

Dr. Mangie is TERRIFIC! Her tests are easy, her lectures are informative, and she offers much extra credit. If you are interested in ancient history you will enjoy her class. She encourages discussion, and you will learn a great deal. I have heard some *bad* things about her Amer Hist classes, but strongly recommend her Ancient Hist class.

She is old. Really old. However she is passionate about her subject and is a good teacher. She offered three extra credit opportunity. Tests are hard, but easily passable. She shows lots of interesting pictures. And, shes old.

If you're not interested in learning American Hist. take someone else. She is a great teacher if you actually want to hear about history. Easy tests if you pay attention carefully and take lots of notes. Don't bother buying the book.

I think that this class is stupid. You must go to class every day and write down everything. She makes you stay till the very last minute and gives quizzes almost every class. Also the reviews have about 100 terms and is way to much to cram into one exam. I wouldn't take this professor again!

Make sure you right down everything she says. Notes are very important, so of the stuff on the tests are not in the book. She is a really nice teacher, only one chance for extra credit. As long as you study you will do fine.
