Comment:
Kindig was a pretty sweet man but his class was basically impossible ... he's really old and his tests were definitely recycled from 1980... he's really knowledgeable but the only reason he knows so much is because he lived during these wars. Don't take his class unless you're really good at history and prepared for really really hard exams !!

He answers questions, but is VERY quiet and his mic doesn't help. I sat on the front row and couldn't hear him if someone zipped a bag. His lectures are boring and sometimes hard to keep up with. He gives so much information at once it is hard to pick out what he will be testing over. His tests require essays and he can be picky with grading them.

I took Dr. Kindig for two history classes, and I loved him. I made B's in both, I believe, but that's my fault for not studying as much as possible. He can be hard to hear sometimes, but he knows what he's talking about, and if you listen, take notes, and read the textbook, you shouldn't have any troubles.

Kindig knows his stuff when it comes to history. However, his lectures are extremely long and he can be difficult to hear. I did a lot of individual work to pass his class with a good grade. The class grade is based off 4 tests, 2 lecture based and 2 from the book. SI's are helpful, but he requires a separate book to be read over Andrew Jackson.

Comment:
Dr. Kindig's lectures are extremely difficult to follow. He does not give notes or show slides, he will just talk through the lecture, in a voice that is very difficult to hear and a monotonous tone which will probably make you lose your concentration. I would not recommend him. Attend SI and read the textbook to stand a chance of passing this.

He's more than fair, and if you struggle he has very long office hours. Don't take this class if you have trouble showing up to class, attendance is mandatory and a large percentage of the grade. You will read A LOT in the class. There are two readings quizzes that go ahead of where he is in lectures. If you don't get an A, it's your fault.

omg whatever you do, don't take this guy. i mean sure he's a sweet old man but his teaching methods are out dated. NO powerpoints, NO helpful test reviews or lecture notes. his lectures are centuries long and really detailed. he tests over stuff he hasn't gone over. best bet: read the textbook and teach yourself.

Kindigs class is VERY BORING, he is monotone & I promise you will lose interest after the first day of notes. I never took notes & was on my phone every class, BUT if you want to pass w/ a good grade (I made a B myself) I suggest you attend every SI session possible & study HARD

Kindig is a nice guy. Very monotone and boring however. If you're in his class..I don't know what to tell you. I thought about dropping him but ended up making an A. I studied for his class more than ANY other class. The book and SI sessions are key for a good grade. This class will truly test your study skills. Take if you want a challenge.

GO TO SI SESSIONS. If you attend them weekly your test grades will surely go up a whole letter grade. Kindig goes off topic at times but his class is easy if you do your part. Meaning, listening in class, reading assigned reading, and going to SI. His tests are extremely easy if you have done your part. SI helps immensely if you fall behind.

He is a quiet man so I do recommend sitting in the front. He gives questions over the book and outline of the lectures which will help you study for the test and quizzes. Also there are SI session which were my savior. Go to those, read your book, and listen (most of the time) in lectures and you could easily pass with an A.

I love Kindig. This class is not easy but I got an A. The trick is to attend every class and read a lot. He gives you extra credit on the final for good attendence.

DO NOT TAKE HIM. If you still have a chance, drop him and take Lindeman. Dr. Kindig knows his stuff, but I don't think that makes him a good teacher. I'm not kidding when I say I spent more time studying for his class than any of my other classes and I barely passed. If you have him, read and study extra. 1/3 notes 2/3 the book! Good luck.

Very nice man but also very quite, sit in the front of the class if you want to hear. Read the textbooks they help a lot and if you are there everyday you get a 12 point curve on your final grade. You learn a lot and he knows almost everything there is to know about his subject

He's really nice and helpful. He does talk very quietly and expect lots of details, but if you're willing to go to class and read you'll do great in the class. He also curves each test and if you attend class regularly he curves your final grade even more. Great teacher ! Learned a lot :)

Sweet man. But very very quiet and hard to pay attention to. He does leave questions that help with study in the library, but you have to study them in great detail. Attend every class and it will work in your benefit.

Read read read. That's what his class is based on. He's hard to understand in his lectures. His essays require a whole lot of detail.
