He is tough but fair if you pay attention to the requirements for instructions of his assignments. His grading structure follows six grades 100 points (that's right 100 points, not 1000) Speech 10 pts, writing 3-4 pgs 15 pts, essay 3-4 pages 10 pts, midterm and final 20 pts each. Group project 25 points. Every point matter. Straight forawrd.

He gives you all the assignments on the first day of class so you know what to expect. Clear outline of everything he wants on assignments and how they are supposed to be done. Come to class to take notes and follow instruction and you will pass with an A no problem. Would 100% take again!

IF YOU GO TO EVERY CLASS AND TAKE NOTES ON THE POWERPOINTS YOU WILL GET AN A. simple as that. you don't need the book if you take notes in class you will be just fine. Just do all the assignments the way he asks, he is an easy grader. class is boring and repetitive, he can be hard to understand but overall,easy. hardest part is the group project

Very nice guy! A little hard to understand but EASY grader, and a very straight forward class with basic assignments. I wish I would have taken more of his Comm classes. 2 tests, 3 papers, a project and thats it!

Maybe his attitude was different in this class but he was really nice. Yes, he makes you do presentations, and study and stuff but that's normal. He was never rude, he was easy to understand (I grew up here so Spanish and Mexican accents don't confuse me) and had a great sense of humor. He is willing 2 help you too and work with u. Nice guy.

excellent teacher. beautiful spanish accent, but difficult to understand at times. his class consists of 2 presentations, 2 essays, 1 midterm and the final. humorous environment. he does a great job applying what we read & learn to real life situations. only 1 bad thing... he is a bad listener and excellent at interrupting you, lol.

Hard accent to understand, but overall nice and funny guy! Class consisted of one 7 min. presentation (10points), two essays (15 points each), one group proj./presentation (20points), and two exams (final included)-20 points each. Not sure my grade yet, but got A's on everything but the midterm and final. I got B or C+. Not bad for not studying!

This guy is great! I was intimidated at first to take his course because of the bad reviews on ratemyprofessor.com but when I had no choice but to take this course to be a fulltime student, I quickly found out not only is he smart, passionate and funny, his class is easy! The semester went by so fast I couldn't believe it! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Easy A

Varona is a character-he does have quite a heavy accent BUT he is understandable. The class is interesting. Mid-Term and Final Exam are average, 1 Oral Presentation, Group Project at the end of the semester, and weekly readings. He is very anal about content organization and class is only out of 100 points so assignments add up quick. Easy A or B

A really easy teacher. A somewhat heavy spanish accent. You can tell he has genuine interest for the class and material. 1 presentation, 1 test, 2 papers and one group project + final. He grades fairly easy as long as you respect his guidelines. Make your assignments well organized. I recommend him, the class is a breeze and he makes it enjoyable

I was all stressed out thinking this would be a statistics class but the way Varona teaches it it is truly research methods using surveys, question-naires. In group project we each took specific jobs so I never had to think about formulas. He is a really nice man and makes sure this is a low stress class. How fabulous is that!

Varona is a professor who thinks you should enjoy school, have self discipline, and sleep well. His assignments are very clear and easy. Just do as he asks you to. He drops chunks of information in the textbook because he thinks it's too much for this class. His tests are mostly multiple choices, and a bit tricky.

This is an easy class, just show up most of the time and you'll pass. The mid-term and final were based on the book/class lecture (exactly the same). Just make sure you have a good group for the final project. He is enthusiastic and an enjoyable teacher.

Thick accent, but you just have to focus. Very nice, helps to suckup. Took my first semester (2 years ago) and don't remember the structure too much. Had to give a group research presentation (took outside group time). Have to do community service (easy). Recommended!
