Greatest professor I've ever had! Caring, intelligent, hilarious, & somehow managed to make Greek history really interesting. His class motivated me to learn as much as I possibly could about the subject & I still catch myself talking about Ancient Greece in every day conversation. Hard work definitely pays off in his class. I finished with an A.

The class has 5 "pop" quizzes, a midterm, and a final. His lectures are always interesting but he can get off topic very easily and fall behind. His assigns a lot of reading but it isn't really necessary. Do not buy all the books he assigns because he will tell you which to get in class as needed. The class is easy and interesting!

Took Foster for UHC Ancient Greece. The class was interesting and the formula for success was really straightforward: attend, take notes, do the readings. The grade consists of 5 pop quizzes, a final paper, a midterm and a final exam. If you show up, take notes and do the readings, the class is pretty easy. If you don't, things get hard fast.

very bitter, cynical, and rather mysoginistic. he can be funny but he can also be too mean. if you read the textbook religiously you can generally figure out what's going on when his lectures suck. i wouldn't take his class again, but it won't kill you.

Professor Foster is AMAZING! He is an excellent lecturer, explains things you don't understand, grades very accordingly and sees your effort. Go to class, take good notes, read the book (although he lectures so well you might not have to) and it's quite possible to get an A. This guy is top notch, clever and funny. I highly recommend!

Foster is a great prof. Knows his field, and better still, knows how to teach it. This in spite of the numerous, usually absurd, and always hilarious tangents taken during class. Fun and quick-witted but with a bit of an edge. If you're not spineless, take him.

Professor Foster is a great professor. His class is definitely a kick in the butt but he reads his students very well. Depending on how we're doing, he'll either take time explaining something or kick it up a notch. Probably the most perceptive teacher I've ever had in that regard. Funny, understanding, and extremely knowledgeable in his field. A++

One of the most articulate and well-read human beings I've ever met. A wealth of knowledge in classics, as well as politics, pop culture, anything. Class is always interesting and fun, yet don't think you can coast. He expects a great deal from his students, but reciprocates with a strong willingness to help and be flexible. Highly recommended.

Foster is such a great professor. His wit and sarcasm complement his vast intelligence of the classics; like a spoonful of sugar, his personality makes the often hard to swallow, classical greek medicine go down. I recommend taking him =)

How is it possible to get a C- in a class where you get A's on BOTH midterms|??!?!YESSS-you've guessed correctly...Foster graded a very decent final paper and thought that it was appropriate!! Great guy with great notes but kills you at the end of the semester when u look at ur grades!its a shame..
