Despite what others say, Professor Valdes is a good professor. I think many students confuse his style and intentions--he demands that his students read cases and brief them. He knows Civil Procedure and covers the relevant material. The legitimate gripe students have with him is that his exam comes straight from Glannon's, Gilberts, etc.
