This man is so awesome in addition to the course. I found myself and was able to understand others on a different level. It's s small class of about 10-15 people and is pretty personal but you find out how to express yourself through writing and it really helps. I recommend this class to every student at ucsc and think it should be mandatory.

Great professor with lots of great advice about life and how to make chemistry matter to my life. I would recommend him and think he is most helpful on a one-on-one basis.

One of the best professors I had at UCSC. He understood the bigger picture and wasn't afraid to talk about it and loose 3/4 of the class because they couldn't comprehend that he was saying things that weren't in the textbook. He expressed the importance of building your intuition and I hope more UCSC kids walk away with that message.

Took him for science and human values to fulfill my W req. Definitely easy, but honestly it wasn't for me. We had to write a paper about the soul of a tree, and "painted" each other with love. Might be your type of thing... who knows.

Frank is an endearing, sagely old man with a passion for teaching. Personal Empowerment is probably the best class I have ever taken at UCSC. If you are open to soul-searching and powerful introspection, Frank will be an invaluable guide along your path to fulfillment.

Very nice guy, terrible in lecture but if you study alot, and show improvement on tests, he is a very fair grader and will give you your highest score as a grade. Yes he goes on weird tangents about life and analogies for it, but you can look back on it and laugh. Very interesting guy, has written about advanced thermodynamics and loving...

The most amazing, energetic, and loving professor I have ever had the pleasure of learning from. Maybe Chem is not his strong suit, but Personal Empowerment was a class that changed my life and everyone elses in it! If it's available, take it!

Andrews is not a very great professor, he goes off on random tangents about life and speaks more about philosophy than chem. I would strongly recommend going to MCI and section. this helped so many pass the class

Even though he makes his own reader and it's cheaper than buying the actual chem book, I'd have to say that he was still a difficult teacher. His lectures were really boring but it does help a little in understanding what he's talking about in his lecture notebook. To do well enough, you should really put in the time and effort for the class

Simply put, Frank Andrews needs to retire. He seems much more interested in promoting his retarded philosophy on life than teaching his students chemistry; if I dragged myself out of bed at 7:30am to learn chemistry, I don't want my time to be wasted on some bull I don't even believe. You will do perfectly fine by studying book and going to section

You either love him or hate him and I loved him.. I wish he was my grandfather. He does sometimes go off on 'tangents' but generally they are really interesting! Plus- to do well, all you have to do is study the booklets he gives you! it's pretty straight forward!
