Religion and Science. Hands down, best professor I've ever had. He's absolutely nuts, but in the best way possible. Has a ridiculous amount of knowledge on pretty much everything. Super-educated guy, yet really approachable. Sure, his lectures will go off topic, but it still remains the most interesting and engaging class I've taken

Crazy, in the best way possible. Incredibly intelligent, expert/wellknown in his field. Must take a class from him if possible. Not the most well organized class, but everything he mention whether directly relevant or not, is important for any person to know. So much to learn from him. Class not hard, workload very small, optional fieldtrips rock.

Classes have no focus, direction, or cohesiveness. Massive amounts of reading are meant to substitute for the absolute waste of class time. Makes you memorize and define whatever comes into his mind with no connecting theme. Left every class wishing I could have 90 minutes of my life back, an utter and complete waste.

I had Flinn for Primal Religions of the Americas. Its hard to understand, the class isn't normal, you can't really take notes because its so random, but you learn a lot and get to think about things you never thought about before (like why did the Northwest stories always have sexual aspects). The main assignment was making and painting a mask.

The person who posted a comment below is a complete hater to the max. This man is incredibly intelligent and gifted in all domains of academia. It's apparent that this whinny person below did'nt get his A (cry me a river). You will leave this class as a better person (unless you're the loser that posted the comment under this one!)

Senile and decrepit. Assigns too much reading, and uninteresting stuff at that. Grades by opinion and never responds to e-mail. He told us at 10 pm the night before our huge dictionary assignment was due, when it was already too late, that, oh yeah, we could have done it as a group. Never had to deal with such incompetence from a professor before.

sacred shrines and holy places: crazy prof, interesting, shows a ton of slides though and many movies. has a lot of information but biased and brings politics into the classroom constantly. should have him once in re stu before graduating. not a lot of work, but grading is weird and not explained. only get the hitech text, he doesn't use anything e

Professor Flinn was one of the most interesting and insightful professors I have ever had. He can be tough to understand at times, but usually he is very funny. He is definitely not afraid to hold anything back in class.

Flinn is hilarious, has a great personality and wants his students to do well. The unfortunate truth is that he just can't teach, so don't take the class if you're anal about grades.

disregard the 11/28 comment. a few people in the class complain about grades instead of accepting that they didn't do as well as others. i disliked Flinn at first, but he grew on me. He's unorganized and incoherant (I learned more from the TAs in review sessions than I did from Flinn all semester) but the class makes you think and Flinn's fun.

Flinn's a very interesting and insightful professor. I think his class is a good experience. I disagree with the other comments from 11/28. I think this person is a little deranged, as you can probably tell from what they wrote.

NEVER EVER TAKE THIS CLASS. for that matter, never never take a flinn class. there is no standard of grading, no organization, no actual learning happening. and by the way, the dictionary (separate from the final paper) is going to be AT LEAST 50 PAGES for this class. thats about as long as a thesis! this man is clearly deranged

Incredibly interesting, but also incredibly disorganized. If you like structure, don't take this class. If it doesn't bother you that the syllabus is only for show, don't miss it.

Hokay, remarkably entertaining professor, but his classes desparately need organization. He fumbles sometimes with clarity, but as long as you don't believe anything he says, you'll fair very well in his class. He has some great tangents. Very interesting man.

very interesting character. i enjoyed the class. he does go off on random tangents, but what he says is still interesting. didn't like how 45% of grade was determined by 2 projects due the finals week, 2 days apart from another.

Awesome guy and professor. Killer stories. Ask him to tell the one about the corpse. You'll expand your knowledge and your opinions a great deal through his class. Definitely take any of his classes if you get the chance.
