Great professor! He keeps class interesting and brings in outside information to make class fun. Go to class though, everything he says in class is fair game for the test so take good notes. Not an easy A but you will learn. he is very helpful if you need it so do not be afraid to ask.

As long as you go to class and take good notes, you should be totally fine in this class. Dr. Gilliam is interesting during lecture and provides lots of examples to drive concepts home. He is also very friendly and willing to help with anything. I opened the book maybe two times the whole semester and still got a B in the class.

Also had him for BSC 320(Take it in intersession if at all possible! Wonderful class!). Dr. Gilliam's classes may be tough, but he is the most helpful professor in the biology department, in my opinion. He really wants to see his students succeed!

I had Dr. Gilliam a couple years ago, so I'm a little late on here. I just want to say, he is one of my favorite professors. Yes, he loves plants, but plant stuff IS on the MCAT. I would recommend reading the book, also. Bottom line is, he's a great professor, and he is always there for you. Take him, if you have the chance!

Dr. Gilliam is a wonderful professor. He is very, very knowledgable and explains topics thoroughly and clearly. No, he is not the least bit easy. But if you take detailed notes and study your tail off (memorizing all the notes in my case) you can guarantee success. Study a lot and you pass with flying colors. Study little and you don't do so hot.

Dr. Gilliam is a nice guy, but his class is incredibly difficult. He covers a ton of material and tests over 9 chapters at a time. He is a great lecturer, but he tends to put information on the exams that is generally no where to be found in the notes, powerpoints, or book. Test averages are very low. If you take Dr. Gilliam, study HARD.

His class is hard. Be prepared to work and defiantly read the chapters in the book. His slides are usually only pictures so make sure to listen and take notes as the slides are pointless unless you attend lecture. LOTS of material on test that is very detail oriented. If it wasn't for lab and him curving tests I would have got a lot lower grade.

He is a very nice man. However, he teaches from a different book than what he required for his class, tests are extemely detail oreinted(covers 10-12 chapters each test),and HE OBSESSES OVER PLANTS (even when covering human bio.). I would recommend him for Ecology, NOT Biology.

Dr. Gilliam is really cool to liste too. He really knows what he is talking about. We got to take a couple really cool field trips! The only downside is the tests are extremely difficult. A lot of studying and reading the material as the class progresses is required, but I did get a B so it isn't impossible.

Dr. Gilliam is awesome. He has a great sense of humor, he grades fairly, and he's really helpful if you need it. I'll be taking him for Bio courses in the future. He's one of Marshall's best professors- he cares about students.

LOVE Dr. Gilliam!! He's funny, & he likes to tell you about himself, which is nice. (: He's interesting, and provides "cool questions of the day," which make the class fun. However, the tests are HARD. I recommend getting old tests from previous semesters because they are almost exactly the same. Definitely take! (:

He's a nice guy and good lecturer. Funny at times and helpful. However, this class is not easy. I never expected it to be so demanding. Studying and reading the text makes me want to scream. If you're a bio major you don't really have much of a choice. You just have to suck it up and endure a semester of this class. Gilliam is cool though.

Dr. Gilliam is such a nice guy! He is very willing to help anytime you need clarification, which comes in handy b/c the tests are pretty tough, but if you spend enough time and use the book's chapter summaries (those questions often show up)you will be just fine.

Seems like a good guy and has his funny moments at times, but over all he is a typical pro. He is interested in grant money and persuading you on what he thinks, I disagree with most of his Envoirmental Problems Chapters, and made it obvious to him and in response he and May didnt like me. So if you just go ahead and agree youll be fine.

Dr. Gilliam was a great teacher, I thought his lectures were pretty interesting. The tests were very hard, but if you do ok on the lab work and the lab reports you should be fine. I didn't get above a 65 on any of the tests and still came out with a C.
