Love his teaching style. Very open ended and discussion based, it tests your critical thinking skills. Uses real world examples to help you understand the big picture. His tests are tough, but if you study you should be able to get at least a B. Has a few essays that aren't difficult.

Aight lets be real. If you want to learn something and put forth effort you will get a B. If you skip class you will fail no questions. No hats in class, no phones. Go to his office hours and tests are not bad, everything comes off the quizzes and notes.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS FROM FRANK HEFNER. He gives no partial credit on anything, so if you do take his class, study your notes word for word, label for label. This guy is the absolute worst professor and I dread his class every day because 90% of the time there's a pop quiz, to the point that I'd just expect one every class. Wish I could drop.

He is not rude, rather has a dry sense of humor. Great guy, but half the class drops after the first test. As long as you don't fail the first test stay in. Honestly the class is hard but you learn so much.

Comment:
Hefner is tough and can be pretty rude, but if you attend each class and take good notes you can do well. His tests have a lot on them, but aren't impossible. The only thing I would warn about is that the final is cumulative and has things on it that aren't on prior tests/the study guide, so study literally EVERYTHING.

Crash course, here you go. He's hard, and if you are asleep in class or wrong about a question, then yes he seems mean. If you came to college to sleep, then you won't get his questions right, and yes he will tell you that you are wrong. If that hurts your feelings, good luck in the real world. Great teacher, helpful office hours, hard tests. take.

Hefner makes the class tough, but it's a good thing. He will not hesitate to criticize you. Take him if you want to learn about economics, but be ready to work. You will be fine if you take detailed notes and review them daily. Some of the final is directly from the notes and exams, so look over them. His way teaching is different but effective.

Asks questions in a way that makes you question yourself. He is very opinionated politically (very conservative republican) which he expresses throughout the course. He waited until after add/drop day before giving us exam 1, and was not clear on what would be on it. 23 of the 30 people in the class failed, and he did not curve or scale it. -Avoid-

Hefner I the man. His classes are hard but that is only because he wants you to know your stuff. Don't take the class if you are not serious about the subject matter. Also, be prepared to review your notes everyday after class. Keep up with him and you will learn more than any other class in the department.

Hefner can be a little aggresive, but if you want to learn and you a little initiative you will be fine. Reference Heineken, or comment on how poor France's economy is run...that helps.

If you work hard, come to every class, and do the assigned work, there is no reason you won't get a B or above. He can be extremely tough (warning: don't text in class), but he is easy to follow and will happily explain anything you don't understand. I actually really love his class!

He is the most talented professor I have ever taken a class with. He wants you to understand the class and is awesome at introducing you to real world economics. People say he is intimidating, I found him engaging not intimidating. Just do the reading and make note cards. Any questions and he is really helpful. Highly recommend.

If you are lazy and don't go to class, don't take him. If you do,you will learn more than you can ever imagine. He is so passionate about the economy and will teach you how to understand it. He is extremely intelligent and I would recommend 100% to anyone who is willing to go to class! But he can be a little intimidating!

Dr. Hefner is the man...he doesnt care if you come to class or not. you can always get the notes from someone else and the test comes straight from the notes. no attendance policy and very little homework. you can miss two weeks of class if you want and study hard for one day and still make at least a C

He doesn't care if you don't get it or not. It's up to you to learn it so if you aren't good at doing EVERYTHING on your own.. don't take him. Also.... grades suck b/c you take one midterm, one paper, then a final that is worth more than the midterm and the paper combined... basically whatever you make on the final IS your grade! no studyguides.
