His lectures consist of babbling. Mayo talks about topics without explaining their relevance to course subjects. On occasion he shows us a sheet of paper that shows the overall topics for quizzes. Rarely hands out assignment sheets showing the criteria need for papers or journal assignments. All verbal, you are expected to remember.

He wrote "too detailed" on my first speech outline and then "too vague" on my second outline without a hint of irony. It was pretty annoying giving A+ speeches and then losing points and finishing the class with a B because he can't be bothered to teach how he wants his outlines to be written up.

Poor teacher. Without irony, he will write "too vague" on your speech outline and then "too much detail" on your next one without elaborating. I always got good grades on the speeches and then would lose points on the outline, ending up with a B despite giving A speeches. Pretty frustrating professor. He is very preachy as well.

Great teacher, I only had him for Interpersonal Communications but I was able to get so much out of the class. He is easy to talk to and loves to help if you have any questions or issues. He is a tough grader, but it's only because you need to earn your grade with him. He doesn't believe in letting people off easy, you're not gaining from that.

Frank Mayo was my Speech teacher in 1993 and he was really a great teacher with amazing tips on how to make my public speaking better. (Quite honestly I sucked at it before his class) He is a hard grader, with a good purpose, and a gold heart. If you are having issues in class he will help you but you will also be made to work for it in a good way.

Mayo is a tough grader but if you come to class, are polite, and follow the directions on the assignments you will do well. The most important thing I found with his class is that if you don't follow the directions exactly, you will lose many letter grades really fast. Also, if you miss more than the allowed absences he will fail you.

Overall a good class. He makes class entertaining, and always tells a funny story. He doesn't hand out A's, but he isn't a tough grader. Come prepared everyday and you will get an B for sure. Put in a little work and you'll get an A.

By far the worst professor I've ever had. He's extremely egotistical and an over all bad person. He will single you out if your beliefs are different than his (very liberal). He will fail you if you question him. Avoid his class at all costs; I would not wish his class upon my worst enemy.

Mayo's class is 100% doable. He is a tough grader and has a strict attendance policy, but if you do what he asks you CAN get an A. He is moody at times and doesn't take any nonsense. Strong political views. Take his classes with an open mind and you won't have a problem.

He's a great teacher but he can be very strict. He *does* harbor dislike for students who don't do their work or are disrespectful towards other students/teacher. He's a very intelligent man and he can ramble a bit sometimes but overall, his class was very informative. However, don't end up on his bad side, it'll mean a bad semester for you.

This teacher was very moody. I showed up to almost every class, did all the work, and was polite to him and he still found reasons to get very personal with me (and many other students.) Don't take pubic speaking with him. You want to take this class and get an A without having to put all your time into it. His grading is policy ridiculous.
