He's a good teacher, you just got ajust to the way he teaches it. If you can get ahold of past test it is extremely helpful, most problems are the same. Pop Quizes are announced and easy if you pay attention in class.

At first, Dr. Roehl seems like a terrible teacher because of his accent and confusing boardwork. But stick with it!! He is so willing to help and a pretty easy grader, he gives partial credit like crazy. Most important thing is to keep up with the homework, many test problems are identical. He also gives tons of take home tests!

Very hard class but very possible to make an A. He will answer any question and is very lenient with grading. Attendance isn't mandatory but there are random quizzes.

His lectures are hard to understand, because he speaks incredibly softly to the whiteboard. I skipped class too often, so that's on me, but I had a hard time with tests. I've never been so happy to get a B in my life!

I thought professor Roelh was a very poor math teacher. The accent was very hard to understand and i didn't know what the man was saying 100% of the time. I mean he is a very smart man but when it comes to teaching you the material he doesn't do a good job at all. Take him at your own risk!!!

Dr.Roehl is a very nice person. Like other raters said, dont be fooled by his accent. He is extremely helpful. As for the class, 1st test was in class, last two were take home. final was in class. Honestly, I really did not care for this class much because of take home tests. So I never really learned the material.

adorable old man! don't let his accent scare you! i almost bailed the first week, but you get used to it, and he's a much better teacher than many give him credit for. must be willing to work, but you'd have to do that in any cal 2 class. i got an A without much sweat. he will explain anything you ask him to and is VERY good about partial credit!!

Warning! Do NOT get out of his class just because his accent is hard to understand on the first day of class. He is probably one of the BEST math teachers I have EVER had! He knows his stuff, is really lenient with partial credit, and doesn't give any homework!! Tests are really easy and you actually learn a lot!

I had dr roehl in 2000. Never liked him much when I was in school because he wasnt the easiest teacher and learning probably wasnt my priority, but remember a really profound moment in my learning career when he said "No matter how complicated a problem is, its all simple book keeping". That statement stuck with me every since. Good guy though

Overall, I didn't think he was as bad as some of the other comments said he was. He is very good about explaining things in his office hours if you are having trouble. The tests are straight from the examples in the book; don't bother studying your notes because the problems he does in class are very different from the test questions.

I thought he was a little hard to understand at first, but you get used to his accent after awhile. He is very helpful if you use his office hours. And VERY generous with partial credit on his tests. If you guess in the right direction he gives you at least some partial credit. He was really nice.

I thought that he was a great teacher that was really willing to help you outside of class, but in class he is a bit moody when you ask questions. If you need help go to his office hours because it pays off when it is time for him to grade your test. He is very generous with partical credit on problems. I would recommend him to anyone.

Very hard to understand and expects people to know EVERYTHING so therefore he skips steps, and seems to get a bit angry if you ask a question about what he is doing....if you like the german/british accent and can understand...by all means take him

Decent teacher in class; difficult to understand. Easily accessible through office hours, and exams often reflected the optional homework. Good for those who learn mathematics easily and quickly.
