The KSUMB is one of the greatest choices I have ever made. Dr. Tracz has made me cry on many occasions, but he is without a doubt one of the most inspirational people I have ever met and I love having him as a director. Just practice hard! Have a thick skin and keep your head up! His band is no place for someone wanting an easy A!

Piss him off and he'll sabotage your music involvement for the rest of your K-State career. Don't listen to the yes-men, he's truly a bad person. Between harassing students after class, to requiring GAs to do lawn work, he's a rotten human to the core.

In a word: Authoritarian. You come in to the band thinking he's god, but come out realizing he's a one-trick pony. Motivation only goes so far, and he simply doesn't realize that instruction is required to educate. Telling someone "do it better" repeatedly isn't effective. He's very petty and extremely vindictive; a role model to the blind only.

He's funny and motivational but he is rude if he disagrees with your opinion. He cares about the band but not about the person. I love marching band but I would not take it if you can't handle presure.

Very Rude. Good personality and everyone loves him at first. But once you get to know him he is abusive of his tenure, says things he shouldn't. Not a nice person. Horrible Teacher in the classroom setting, he is good at encouragement and that is it.

Dr. Tracz will require you to work hard. If you don't like that, this is not for you. The work is worth it on game day when 52,000+ people are cheering for you. He will drag you kicking and screaming along the way so that the band can be the best it possibly can. Give 110% all of the time and you will have no problems.
