some people don't like frank but he really changed how i see design - he pushes you to be different by teaching you about the dadaists and russian constructivists. he makes you work hard so don't take this class if you're afraid of commitment, change and trying to be different.

Frank is a really nice guy, he's very thoughtful and caring even if you're not one of his students. He likes meditating in his class for about an hour in the beginning of his class. Frank's homeworks are a little different than most professors but it's very unlikely for anyone to fail his class.

He's a fun teacher. You will get some meditation out of this guy. Homework is quite out of the ordinary. He wants you to be playful and unusual with thinking on homework. Be prepared to do a lot of compositions. He does change his mind a lot and tend to get off topic as well. If you want to do traditional graphic design, don't take his class.

First, let's say that he could be a very good meditation teacher or a massager, but he is definitely not a good design related course teacher. He shows no knowledge about what he is teaching, no clear instructions and you will not have a portfolio with him.

frank is one of the most inspirational teachers i have ever had the pleasure of knowing. he opened my eyes to meditation, self-discovery, and is one of the reasons i changed my career later in life to become a teacher so i could inspire others like he does. this is not a class you take for a grade. this is a class where you get an experience.

IF YOU ARE VERY NEW TO DESIGN DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS. He benefits those who have some basic knowledge of graphic design. He is extremely experimental. For the new students, you won't learn anything and just end up confused. You won't have any work for your portfolio either. Very disorganized. Changes his opinions every week. NO structure at all.

One of the most inspiring people I have met in my life. A little crazy and all over the place (Forgets assignments, changes feedback etc) but overall he will teach you to add a unique perspective to your work that you never thought you'd find. After 2 weeks, you'll either adore him, or despise him. My advice is go with your first instinct.

One of the best teachers I've ever had. Frank not only helps you develop as an artist but he leads you on a road to self discovery. He;s dedicated and hard working, loving, and overall a great person. His class is a life experience and will forever change the way you look at things. All he asks for is committed students.

Don't take this class if you are not open to new methods and ideas. This isn't a class for designing logos and cd cases. Frank is very interested in developing your creativity with you, and that isn't something that comes easy. If you're willing to try, you will do well in this class. I personally love Frank, and I am very happy I had him. :)

really great for portfolio, it's probably going to be your only experimental graphic design class you take to loosen yourself up, to get better, but you have to stick around till the end to get good results. He's very zen and a little out there, but if u participate in class discussions and critiques and do the work, it'll pay off.

Frank is a genius. It took me a while to see it because his class is VERY unstructured and he goes off topic very easily. But he only wants to help you. His critiques are hard, but you know that if he says your work is good, then its good. He will help you make your sophomore portfolio. He also changes your outlook on life. take him.

He's a really personal guy. His class is more about finding your way and being comfortable with your style than anything else. If you want to improve, he will bust your butt to get there. Brutally honest critiques, but he doesn't mean it as an insult.

Frank is one of the kindest people you will ever meet. He is a great mentor and great person to meet your second year to motivate you. Of course he is a little bit of a space case (saying this in the nicest way possible) and his class is challenging. you won't slepe but we all kno that already. Defintiely take him it's more than worth it!

Frank Young is an excellent teacher. I was about ready to give up on Graphic design in my second year but I took his lab class and I was re-energized. He helped make me into the tough honest designer/artist I am today. If you don't have a passion for design or really digging in and working then his class is not for you.

not very clear and changes assignments way too many times. i honestly didn't feel like i really learned anything. maybe since it was a summer course it was different but i didn't feel any of my work was as good as it could have been.
