She is fantastic. She wants to make sure that everyone is understanding concepts and doing well. She's very particular on writing, but that's because she wants to make sure you get it right. Japanese is hard and there is a bit of homework, but stick with it, ask her for help when you need it, and you'll do well in her class.

Comment:

Matsumoto Sensei is a great teacher for those who want to learn Japanese. Her class makes learning fun. I was struggling with Japanese since I haven't studied it for two years and was put into the second semester of 1st year JPN. I went to her office hours and she has helped me tremendously through the semester.

Comment:

Super fun teacher that makes learning Japanese fun, and also tries to include a lot of unique tidbits about Japan through videos/stories. She isn't necessarily a tough grader, she just makes sure everyone is reading/writing correctly. A lot of fun to talk to outside of class as well - go to her office hours!

Matsumoto-sensei was my first Japanese language teacher and did an excellent job making Japanese fun and interesting to learn. Like any language, it takes effort to learn, but the textbook makes it a fun time. Definitely one of the best classes I've ever taken.

Matsumoto-sensei is one of the most understanding and helpful professors ever! She is incredibly approachable, keeps everyone on track, and truly cares about each and every one of her students. She is incredibly on top of things. She makes language learning fun for pretty much everyone! I could not recommend her more!

Matsumoto Sensee is the best teacher ever! She is so nice and friendly. She makes everything clear and helps students to understand all the materials easily. Weekly homework and quizzes are simple as long as you pay attention and memorize the vocabularies, you will be fine. It is very easy to get an A on this course. Oral interview is so much fun.

Matsumoto Sensee is PHENOMENAL. She makes learning Japanese fun and accessible while giving out homework and quizzes that build upon the material. She is easy talk to in office hours and goes out of her way to help those that may be struggling with the language. If you excel at learning other foreign languages, this class shouldn't be a problem.

The class was by far one of my favors of all time. She presents the subject simply and straightforward so it's very easy to learn as long as you pay attention and try. You'll have lots of little quizzes but its never a surprise as she puts up the weekly schedules every wednesday. Great Sensei.

I took JPN1011 with her as well and she is amazing!! she was my first foreign language teacher that I truly enjoyed. She's not that harsh of a grader imo she grades pretty fairly and will give partial credit. very fun professor. lots of mini quizzes and tests but she makes the course very enjoyable and worth it!

A lot of people say she's a tough grader by taking points off small mistakes but I think she's a fair grader and that's how we're supposed to learn esp. when it comes to language. She'll always be there for you whenever you need and she's really fun to talk to. Love love love her and her classes. Should've taken JPN 1011 with her too.

Very good teacher. I don't think she's so harsh that you'll have trouble passing the class, but she's strict enough to push you to learn. There are a lot of homework, tests, and speaking, but that's what it takes to learn a new language. She's very cheerful, and always willing to take the time to help. Also, she's really fun to tease.

An interesting and helpful instructor. Japanese may be a little hard for native English speaker, but much easier for Chinese or Korean. I never review it after the course. And I got an A at a 95% grade ( over 93% is A, not 90%).

I have had many great professors but Matsumoto Sensei is the best. She genuinely cares about her students. She has an incredible personality that draws the class in and before you know it, the class session is over and you have learned a lot. I highly recommend her to anyone who wants to learn Japanese.

I've had Matsumoto-sensei during the last year in 4041 and 4042. I'm really glad I waited to take 4041/4042 after transferring because Matsumoto-sensei is one of the best teachers I've had. She genuinely cares about her job as a teacher and is pretty amazing at it!

Fumiko-sensei is THE BEST! Not only is she extremely helpful, super kind, and just downright goofy, but she is always able to make the class cheer up, and she excels at getting the class to understand what she says. She's really cute when you tease her too (anyone that was in my class will remember her "EEEH!? Iieiieiieiie..." when we teased)
