Comment:
Dr. Lugo truly does care about his students, the class is very difficult to get an A. The lectures are quick and sometime a bit confusing, often made mistakes that students had to correct. I respected him a professor but wish class better prepared me for the tests.

Firstly, his way of grading is absurd. All of the homework is straight from the book, which he never goes over in class. If you struggle with math, DO NOT take him. Very fast-paced and he does not make the course interesting at all. No help whatsoever. Save yourself.

Dr. Lugo is one of my favorite professor I have had at UNCW so far. He is so caring for his students and really wants everyone in his class to succeed. Just put in the effort because calculus is not easy. Loved him and I recommend him to everyone

Lugo is a great teacher for a a hard subject. He does his best to make it understandable - when he gives you the chance to ask questions ask for more examples particularly that you were confused on - it REALLY helps. Plus he throws you points for being engaged.

Dr. Lugo is such an amazing professor. He truly cares about his students and when the class does not do well on exams he curves his tests very generously and makes sure everyone understands. Do not go into this class thinking it will be easy. Calculus is hard but I highly recomment Dr. Lugo. If you do the hw and go to class, you should be fine.

Lugo is honestly THE WORST math teacher I have ever had. He gives no extra credit and his lectures are pointless. His lectures are awful. Your exams will be only 10 questions. Quiz every week. He doesn't show you what material to know for the tests(because he doesn't teach it, and because you don't have homework on it). AWFUL CLASS & GPA KILLER!!!!

I have had a pretty bad math experience throughout my years and Dr. Lugo did not help that. I was hoping for a teacher that could help me understand algebra better and that did not happen. I learned more from the math lab online homework than I did in class. I would not recommend him to teach any algebra class.

This is probably one of the worst calculus teachers I ever had. He likes to waste 15 minutes at the beginning of class on words of wisdom that has no relevancy to the course. He doesn't teach you any of the concepts just shows you how to solve the problem. Good luck trying to make an A with this professor. I would avoid him at all costs!

Only real complain with this teacher is that he writes so small it gives me a headache. He says intelligent people write small, it shows they're paying more attention, well... vision impaired people don't write small because its hard to see! I can never read anything!!!!

I'm a very good math student, and I was forced to drop out of Lugo's class due to getting consistent Ds. If you are okay with striving for a C, then Lugo is your man. If not, he's a horrible professor. Terrible at explanations, and only really beneficial if you're going into physics. DON'T TAKE HIM AT ALL COSTS.

Dr. Lugo is a very nice professor. His teaching style is fast paced, but there is a lot of material to go over. He gives a lot of practice exams with answers so you can be well prepared for the exams ahead of time.

His teaching style does not work for me. I am an econ major and a math minor with a 4.0 and i may get a C in this class. By far the most difficult class i have taken at uncw. He is readily available outside of class and learning form a Mathematical physicist(from berkeley) is awesome however I would not take him again.

Dr. Lugo is helpful, amiable, and funny. But more importantly, the man is a mathematical GOD. If you're a math major, you HAVE to take one of his classes; the experience is invaluable. You won't be able to coast through Calc 3 for an easy A, but you will learn a whole lot. Class is difficult as it needs to be. Lugo is one of the best profs at UNCW.

Lugo is the man. Such a great guy. His lectures are not all that helpful but if you put in work and review his practice tests before the exam you can easily get an A.

Professor Lugo is extremely nice and funny. I liked going to his class even though it was every day. The material was on the hard side, but if you do all the exams that he has posted on his website, it's possible to get an A in his class. Not that many people did get A's however. He does do curves below the 90 mark, too.

Good personality, makes it fun to come to class, but at the same time, the class was very difficult for me. Worst I've done in math as a math minor. Not many examples in notes- he shows the easy ones-have to teach yourself the difficult hw problems- hardest questions from each section on exam... no breaks- do not just study old exams!- different!

Gabriel Lugo takes a very difficult class and makes it fun. His positive attitude and good humor made the otherwise dismal course interesting. As many others have said, this is not an easy class, and Lugo does not baby you. He is very fair, and will not grade on favoritism. A great professor, even though the course is quite demanding.

Professor Lugo is very entertaining. His class is not easy but if you come to all lectures, its not hard to follow. He has a very forgiving grading system. His tests are kind of hard but he gives a lot of partial credit.Attendence is not mandatory, but you get bonus points for attending all of his lectures.
