Very quick paced lectures. You honestly need to read the textbook and take notes before class to understand what's happening. Tests after every chapter and a final project. No midterm or final. Final group project. Online textbook that's pretty interactive. He's not the worst, and I'd probably take him again if I had to.

Cognitive was one of the most difficult classes I have ever taken. Dr. Berman is very knowledgeable and makes class fun, but has extremely high expectations. YOU NEED TO STUDY - A LOT. Tests are VERY hard (which he admits openly). Three tests, one group project, one paper, no final exam. You learn a lot, but it might be at the cost of your GPA.

I took his Cognitive Psychology course and it was very entertaining. My friend gave me this advice: "Do not judge based on his ID picture on the roster." I found that funny, but just want to share. Presentations and lectures are interactive and thought-provoking. He's chill and laid-back although learning-focused. Would certainly recommend.

Couldn't have asked for a more caring, kind, understanding and funny psych professor if I tried. He really takes the time to go over the material in class and relate it in ways we can understand it. As long as you study and do the online study games/modules he suggests to do you'll be just fine. If you have questions he's always happy to answer!

Berman is a nice guy and tries to make his lectures interesting. However, his exams are extremely difficult and cannot be passed unless you fully understand each concept from the book and can apply it to a real world situation. Cognitive was a boring subject and difficult to follow. LOTS of reading, and if you don't read thoroughly you wont pass.

Absolutely LOVE Dr. Berman! He's the best psych professor you can start out with! Honestly, he'll explain any questions you have, help you study, or advise you (better than your OWN advisor probably) in which psych courses to take. He truly cares about all of his students!

Dr. Berman is awesome! He is really funny and gives great examples! We take a lot of notes but overall its a great class. He is really very brilliant but doesn't make himself seem that way. He is down to earth and very helpful with everything from psychology based questions to personal problems!

Took him for intro to psych for majors, and I got a B-. I knew all of the material, his tests were just kind of difficult. He also did tests on the computer that were open book that boosted my scores, but some of those questions were tricky, too. If you take him, pay attention, READ THE BOOK, and take really thorough notes!

I had him for the winter intersession course of Human Behavior. Was really worried going into it about surviving a three-hour long class five days a week, but I barely notice the time go by! Excellent teacher, humorous, keeps you engaged and explains everything extremely well. Would absolutely highly recommend him!

Great teacher, very clear, very helpful. The classes are easy if you do the reading and pay attention. He talks way more than he uses power point so make sure you listen. He gives lots of examples and is very helpful if you have a problem.

Not many grades - only 3 tests. Tests require a good understanding multiple choice and essay. Lots of readings. He really knows his stuff, has field experience, very interesting. Doesn't use PowerPoint much, so listen! I learned a lot but have to study a lot.

Thought the class would be interesting, but was disappointed. Don't take for mini-mester! The class drags on and on because no one answers questions. Teacher asks a lot of questions and expects you to do to the reading...so if you're stupid - save the rest of the class the agony and take something else. This class could be a lot better.

Interesting course, tons of information. Tests consist of equal multiple choice AND short-answer. Not easy to study for. Missing a lecture=missing a lot of information that is not necessarily in the text. Nice guy, but expects a lot from his students. If you read, study, and participate, you'll learn a lot.

Took Human Behavior with him over the winter intersession. Considering I was in that class for 4 hours a day, it was good. Considerable reading and group projects, but it was fun. The regular semester may have it alot rougher though.
