Comment:

Garth is a decent teacher. He's really nice and his office hours are very helpful. Don Davis really does all the tests/prep for the class, so DEFINITELY do the practice exams and study long examples from the notes! Put effort into the hw, go to class to get the examples from notes, do well on exams and you'll be fine.

Garth is an okay teacher. Really nice guy and better at office hours than in lecture. My options for Math51 were him or Don Davis. Im glad I took Garths class, but neither seem to be great. I had never taken calc before, and I ended up being fine in the course. Put effort into the homework, go to class and offfice hours.

One of the most caring and fair professors I've had. To be honest, he isn't amazing at teaching. But if you pay attention in class, do the homeworks, and do the practice exams, you will do very well on the exams. He really cares about his students.

Garth is by far the worst professor I have ever had in my life. He makes a ridiculous amount of mistakes during lectures and is horrible at explaining anything. Everyday I would leave class more confused. I wish i could have spent my own time studying this material instead of attending class but the pop quizzes prevented me.

Garth is the worst teacher I have ever had. One class he said, "You won't need this for the test and I'm going to teach it in 2 weeks but I'll do a quick problem," and proceeds to spend the entire class doing the 'quick' problem. He is a goat in human skin. Don't take him.

He is a nice guy. Thats the only good thing I can say about him. He is a terrible teacher and the homework's take so long and are just such a waste of time. If you unfortunately get him, use the recitations to your advantage. The TA's are better than he is.

He was honestly the worst teacher i've had in a while. Doesn't explain anything in class, waves his hands and blinks rapidly instead of actually teaching anything. Haven't even opened the textbook he insisted us on buying for $200. The MyMathLabs and exams are unreasonably hard. Avoid him at all costs. And he sweats, a lot.

Watching him teach is like watching a magic show. One second he is rambling about something totally irrelevant and then all of a sudden BOOM! He answers the question and the class is still trying to figure out what class this is suppose to be. Pray to whatever your religion is and hope you have a friend that knows Calculus or understands stupidity.

I never took Calc before taking Math 097. This was the hardest class I have ever taken. He is all over the place when explaining concepts, which makes it very difficult to understand. I struggled to get through this class. The only way I learned the material is from my tutor and friends. I barely learned anything in lecture.

Definitely the best Math 021 teacher. The tests aren't hard if you do all the homework and do the practice tests he posts online. Class can be boring if you've taken calc before because he moves slow, but it's good if you're new to the subject.
