I had Gary for both 2301 and 2302 and I'm very glad. He knows his stuff and presents it extremely well and little quickly but there's a lot to learn. Problems on the test are from the book so they are NOT tricks. He is really helpful and truely tests your knowledge. Highly recommended.

Gary Gray wen really fast through the material without explaining it because he thinks it is obvious and easy. It also seems like he doesn't care about his students at all.

Very approachable, and a really helpful teacher if you just suck it up and go to office hours, its actually alot of fun. He is really fair and wants you to do well. Do practice tests online and office hours and you'll do fine. Remember the Booty Call Reaction (Sn2) hehe

Gary is the bomb. He is always prepared and delivers the material clear as possible. He does go through the material fast but I assume every professor does since there is a lot to cover. His tests and very fair and straight forward.

Loves the textbook. Very regimented and plain. Doesn't provide lecture slides, which makes it hard to take notes and listen to/think about what he's teaching. He wants you to do well, and will go out of his way to help you. He's very interested in good grades and achievement. I just found him dull.

I was lucky to take both 2301 and 2302 consecutively from Dr. Gray. He FLIES through the material, so make sure you keep up! He designs his tests in such a way that you either know it or you don't. Very funny during lectures, and is helpful during office hours. Great professor, highly recommended.

High Quality Prof. Take his class if you want to really understand and learn Organic Chemistry. His classes are filled with examples and you need to make sure you keep up with whats going on. Buy the textbook and do every single problem he assigns you. I failed the first test and did amazing in the others and got an A. U need to spend 2 hrs/day min

He is definitely the better of my two organic profs. He is very clear and knows his stuff. He actually made the subject interesting, so I finally started doing the assigned problems.

By far one of the best professors I have had at the U. He is crystal clear and his tests are extremely straight-forward...hard, but straight-forward. If you do all the practice problems, you will have at least some idea of how to do the test because he puts all practice problems on the test. He is extremely helpful in office hours as well.

The ONLY prof to take OChem from. Insane knowledge of organic chemistry...he sometimes forgets how little we know and gets a little over our heads but he makes up for it in organization. Easy to compare lecture notes to textbook. Follows text to the letter so BUY THAT BOOK! 1/3 of class fails, so don't take if you can't study at least 2 hrs/night

His exams are rather difficult, but he is much better than Tolman and Kass put together. In order to do well, I recommend students to go to his office hours often and also go to the Organic tutors for help.

Very difficult course - spends lectures going over examples. Fairly dull lectures, but Dr. Gray REALLY knows his stuff. Helpful if you approach him outside of class, which I didn't do often enough. And despite what they tell you --- memorize! Understand if you can, but memorizing works too. :)

His tests test understanding not memorization. You need to study how the reactions happen. Go to office hours as he is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He recommends copying your notes into another notebook. This was helpful as it allowed you to check your understanding of the content. I was easily able to achieve an A. Just but some effort in.

Nice guy, but tests can be EXTREMELY difficult (rarely gives partial credit for answers). Most of the questions come from homework problems, so doing them is practically mandatory. The lecture can be pretty boring and dry: 95% of the time is spent going over examples. BEWARE: There is no curve in this class even when the averages are below failing.
