Better than Holdcroft but expects a lot from students and tries to make it seem like he's making things easier but tests very in depth.... AVOID if possible. Oh and no formula sheet for the final or midterm.

Explains very thoroughly and goes over Lewis diagrams all the time. His demos were not as engaging as Holdcroft's but the ice trick was pretty cool. Lectures were boring sometimes and he frequently reviewed concepts from the day before and wasted a bit of time. Attend the tutorial where he goes over the practice final; explains in depth.

Final was quite fair; lectures can be a bit boring at times, but he covers material very thoroughly, and makes sure that students understand concepts that he is explaining.

He is very nice individual. However, he spends way too much time reviewing material from the previous class and he doesn't spend enough time going through the harder material in the course. His lectures aren't very engaging and there are a lot of people who fall asleep in his classes.

He honestly cares so much about his students; he is the first professor I have had that asks at the beginning of every class "how is everyone, are there any questions, are we all good... etc etc." Beware, his tests are very hard and unexpected from how kind he is, so be sure to study hard and take lots of notes on what he says, they help.

Bad lecture planner. He would explain things in great detail, which is great, but rushed the last part. His final was really hard and the practice final wasn't enough practice.

he was really helpful and wow do i ever know how to draw a lewis diagram now, but unfortunately you don't need to know how to do that for the exam so he rushed through the last part and his final was killer. really good prof other than his final

GREAT prof! He really explained concepts well and he seemed really into it, and that he actually enjoyed the material he was teaching. I'd recommend any class he's teaching! He even cracks some jokes every now and then. Overall his lectures were enjoyable to go to.

Dr Leach definitely knows his stuff and is very good at explaining concepts. That being said you should expect a lot of theory questions on the exam. Be sure to know your theory well and you should be fine.

Material is pretty hard but he explains very well. Goes into so much detail that he ends up not finishing the lecture notes. Also he often comes to class a couple minutes late with a starbucks coffee in hand.

Awesome prof but hard class. Hopefully they will make CHEM 260 a pre-req instead of a co-req soon or else expect to have to self teach much of quantum chemistry during every lab report. Dr. Leach was always super helpful if you went to see him though

LOVE Dr. Leach! Though the material was boring, he went through everything with us until we understood! Amazing professor! (Super nice too- brought candy for our entire class!)

There's a lot of material covered in CHEM 121 and Dr. Leach teaches it very well. He does a lot of examples throughout lecture and he does them explaining every step but because he does them in great detail, he rarely finishes his powerpoints. ITS OKAY THOUGH, he just picks up where he left off next lecture.

He's very good at explaining concepts, but that being said, the topics he covers are very difficult, so it does require reading the night before to at least get an idea of what you're doing. Don't put all your studying off to the end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Attending the lectures are mandatory. He goes over several examples to clarify the material. Must be prepared to self learn and do several practice examples. The final exam was fair and not as difficult as the midterm. Don't focus on memorizing the equations, there were no questions (that I recall) that required them. Be sure to study lots!

Too many repetitive examples, how many time can you go through a basic Lewis Structure. This caused last week for us to rush through a chapter that was heavily examined. With that said if you don't understand the course he was better for you than Holdcroft, just went at a dreadful pace for those who did understand, Lewis Structure=Chem 11 level
