A pretty nice guy outside of class, but not a good professor at all. He barely touched the book at all. I was there for every lecture and did my part outside the class and I retained nothing. One of the advisors even told me that he wouldn't have signed me up for him if there was anyone else open. Ended up dropping at midterm. Take as last resort.

Wonderful Professor, understanding that life happens and if you miss sometimes you can make it up. Tests are hard but you just have to pay attention in class. all material is covered and he make sure of it. Also you must wright 5 abstracts about bio articles not about medicine so be ready for that.

Confusing Class. He's not too bad, but he doesn't explain the material well. I don't know how I'm doing in class. He's never activated the BB class. We've never gotten a paper or test returned to us, so nobody knows what kind of grades they're getting.

Very funny teacher. The test and quizzes are verbatim from what goes on in class. And you have to read the book to completely understand the course.

Clarity=3 because he does, as someone else mentioned, literally speak in riddles (and then they will be tested in some way). I loved biology before taking this lab, but who knows. I may be a computer major now. Thanks Gary, for making the semester hell. Those tests were quite literally not passable.

Gary Sherman can be most easily summarized in to the category of teacher that if you read the book before class that you don't need to listen to him the problem with this is that the book should be supplementary to what is said in class his tests a based competency around the book rather than what he teacher causing many students to fail his tests

Mr. Sherman does know his stuff, he just doesn't teach it very well. He jumps round a lot and and his reviews are not very helpful. If you do go to class it is a lot more helpful! Just be prepared when you GO!

Sherman knows his stuff, I'll give him that. The problem is he has NO IDEA how to put all that knowledge into a presentable package so his students can be informed. He just kind of jumps around a lot and expects you to magically grasp it; and biology is not easy to understand on your own. Very knowledgeable in his field, but an idiot at teaching.

if you take him be prepared. he jumps around alot with the material which means even if you do work through the material, he may be on a totally different chapter for that week. he's the least helpful teacher I've ever had in my life.

very knowledgable, however does not know how to convey the information to his students. Very difficult to take notes from. Very unorganized with the material and bounces around like a squirrel in a tree. Rude to students, mumbles while lecturing and speaks in riddles. Test are difficult like solving a cross word puzzle.

Mr. Sherman is one of the best profs I have ever had. I have now transferred to a real University and his class is the only one at SCC that even compares to classes here. Highly recommended him for anyone who plans to transfer after 2 years at SCC.

I believe Mr. Sherman is a very intelligent man and knows Biology well but he sure doesnt know how to teach it. His test are very hard and he is sometimes just a rude person. I wouldnt recommend him to anyone, ever! He is very picky and mumbles, so its hard to understand him sometimes. If you feel you are a Biology genius, you might enjoy the class

As far a his knowledge and interest in the subject matter I rate him superiorily, however, he does not have the ability to break the material down to understandable concepts to enable the students to really analyze and then synthesize the information.
