One of the most caring, helpful, kind professors I have ever had. She truly cares about each student. She puts in a huge amount of effort into her classes . She is unorthodox, which I think has thrown some people off, but it really worked for me. I have never met a professor who puts more thought into her students in or out of class.

Gay thinks she is Augusta Gottlieb, through some incomprehensible emotion. She never did pass her architecture exam. She knows very little but thinks she knows a lot. (She also doubles as a therapist.) Yeah, she seems as if she cares, but just cross her, or tell her an unwanted truth, and she turns on you!

Gay tries her heart out in order to understand her students, yet she fails miserably most of the time. Easily lets her mouth go wild; I often felt like she was on the verge of insulting students. Extremely biased most of the time; never ask her to compromise unless you are prepared to receive an even lower arbitrary grade!

A very insightful and caring lady...her classes have a lot of substance, but like others have noted, she's kooky! If you're okay with an informal experience, you will learn a lot from Gay, she's a great person and she has a lot to offer students.

Gay is crazy but often brilliant. That said, she cares a lot, almost too much. She can drive you insane one minute and help you a lot the next. She is willing to help, but expect lots of flaking out to occur (missed mtgs!). Its an experience to have her, and it's worth it in the end.

111A was the biggest waste of my time at Wash U. The only remotely helpful thing she said was places for people. I have heard she is a much better teacher in 212...let's hope that is true. Also, her grading does not make sense. Like she read everyone's sketchbook in 1 night...But, she is nice.
