Holste was a very nice professor. She wasn't the easy com 101 teacher though. She was pretty strict on criteria and gave us information that I felt wasn't necessary. You definetly need to put in work to get a good grade.

I had essays PUBLISHED. It's not that she's "a tough grader ", she uses her own grammar rules entirely. I had my essay checked by tutoring, and a publisher once... & got a 62% from her. I genuinely love writing, I'm even working on a novel. This professor almost made me give up on my passion entirely. With my new Prof. I'm getting an A+

Albert Einstein could write her an essay and she'd still take points off. If you're looking for an easy A class keep looking, because you have to give 110% and it still would average you a B in the class. Good luck.

Everyone is right about her political views. Instead of going over more examples of essays, or things we could be doing to BETTER our essays, she goes on about her thoughts about politics. She is a VERY VERY tough grader. Her class gave me anxiety and its only a com 101 class! Would not recommend.

Prof. Holste treats this class like a college class. Personally, I feel she is too tough for a Com 101 class. You will work harder for your grade, and you will learn how to be a better writer, but do not expect to leave the class with an A easily. I worked fairly hard and got an B. If you're looking for an easy teacher, she is not it.

As a teacher she is very good. She gives you ample time for papers and is very clear. I do not enjoy her putting her political opinions on her students every class. She allows you to voice any opposing views, but isn't receptive at all. In my opinion, her constant political views definitely brought down my rate of her. That aside, she is great.

Expecting a good grade in mrs.holste's class is highly UNLIKELY she treats her Com 101! stucents as if it were 102! we only have her 3 times a week for 50 minutes yet she expects so much from us.. having a "perect" paper in her clss is impossible because she finds flaws in everything. i DO NOT recommend her for a Fre student!!!!!!.

She's a nice teacher, but is a tough grader. She's the type of person with the motto "My way or the Highway." She also grades down to the T. For example: points were taken off to the students who used a paper clip and not a binderclip. Like i said before her way and only her way. So if you like a challenge take her.

Great teacher! You can tell that she really loves her job. She makes the class lighthearted and fun, and gets really excited about what she is teaching. She is a bit of a rough grader, but an English teacher is supposed to be a stickler to the rules.

Gayle Holste is probably one of the best english teachers ive ever had. She extremely clear as to what she expects of you in the class and is more than willing to answer ANY questions that you may have. She also trouble shoots your essays before the due date so its almost impossible not to get a good grade on your papers.

She's a nice lady, but she is a REALLY tough grader. She likes things done her way. But, she does fix everything that is wrong with your rough draft and goes over it with you on your conference day, so you can fix it for your final paper. There are a lot of times that you do not have to go to class.
