I took his Historiography course a long time ago, and I came back here to comment on how well it was taught. Professor Ewen is an incredibly kind person, with very eloquent communication, and is critical when it comes to his teaching style to what works best for his students -- v intelligent guy. Don't take his courses if you don't care.

I had the pleasure of working and studying under Professor Geoffrey Ewen. He is a great human being, but beyond that a fantastic scholar. His senior seminars encourage the students to really engaged and discuss the sources. I learned so much from him. I continue to count him as a mentor and his lessons have helped carry me through graduate school.

So, I had him for Can. History - the first History class I had taken since grade 10 (this class I took was in 4th year). The man is really sweet, open to questions, and is really accommodating. The class was dry but that may be because it was at 9am. The book wasn't of much use when it came to studying for exams (use the lecture notes). Go to class

very helpful, well structured intro études candiennes course, lots of reading and writing assignments very good if you are taking this course to fill a bilingual requirement. Adorable personality! very sweet man. I really enjoyed his classes.

Very helpful professor and an overall nice guy! Did much to help students do well. Some topics in Canadian history can be somewhat complex, but he explained them in a way that made them very clear and understandable. Only people who have no appreciation for Canadian history would find him boring.

Professor Ewen is a very nice person, but his lectures are rather boring. He stutters a lot in French. If you do your work though, it would not be too difficult to get good marks.

stammered a lot, especially at the beginning of the year but got better as he became more confident in front of the class. Very detail-oriented. Marks were ok, but wanted lots of details on exams and essays. He is a nice and sweet-natured person. Loves history.
