Good: Friendly, respectful and has a good sense of humor. Talks about real world examples, throws in funny slides and offers extra cred. Bad: He gives a large amount of reading / research due in short periods of time, Grades are updated slowly, online grading system is confusing and does not show letter grade. Hard to reach outside of class.

Great Professor. Recommended to Students who likes to work as a group. Hi s class is based of Team based which I like. Class was not that hard. Open book on mid term and final.

He was great, teaches with Group Based learning which was tough because you are pretty much on your own to learn the topics, but you make great friends and if you are lucky, you will laugh a lot during the course. He does not teach besides explaining the questions you answer every day in class.

He is a very nice professor, but that is about it. I took this class expecting to learn everything there is to know about computers and cybersecurity, and to this day I have not learned a single thing. It is all group learning and you can easily look up the answers on Google. The midterm and final are open book. Try to take it with someone else.

I personally don't like how he does his class. He does everything in groups. When you begin a module, he does a individual test (which is based on a ton of reading he throws at you in a short time), then he does a group test based off of the same test. Midterm and final is open book. Alright guy, just don't like the style which he does his class.

This class in lacking in effectiveness. The lecture if so surface level and pointless, it makes me ashamed of what education in America is today. We never learned one line of specific code in class once. Even in discussion section we only did algorithms. Teacher is hard to get a hold of and defers a lot to TA's which don't really want to be there.

Team based learning is annoying. Go to lecture/lab for attendance, don't pay attention, it's a waste. Lecture/lab emphasizes pseudocode so homeworks are difficult & ridiculously long. Berg allows students to influence the grading scale & we configured it to be an easy A (attendance weighed the same as the midterm & final combined). Open book tests

This professor didn't respond to any of my emails throughout the semester. When I asked him in person, he'd say "just send me another email" and he'd walk away. His lectures were pointless. I wasted time going to class. All his lectures are in pseudocode, but he expects you to magically hand in program assignments in Java, when he didn't teach it.

All group work, you don't really learn much. Pretty much everyone gets A's regardless of how well you do on the RATs or the quality of the work you submit, it's kind of sad.

I thought he was a great teacher. A lot of group work everyday in class but it was easy and he would allow you to leave early. No tests, just RATs which you took individually and as a group. They were hard but he would average the group grade and your individual grade and you would do fine. I would definitely take him again, highly recommend

Berg's class can seem dry and dull, but hey, he tries. Tests were, at the time, open-notes, yet could still require a fair degree of sifting/thought even so. All in all, the material learned is still surprisingly relevant, and applicable. Attendance not mandatory, but class could be worth going to now and again.

At first I had no interest in taking this class, i took it because i needed an honors course and it fit my schedule but Berg is a good guy and made it as interesting as it could be for those of us who were not computer science majors. I was worried it would be too difficult but the TAs were so helpful. In the end it turned out to be good class

Had honors intro comp sci with him. Small class, but had the prof. and 2 TAs. They all seemed helpful, but I had programming experience already so none of it was new or hard for me. He seemed to explain stuff well though and it seems like everybody else in the class is following along well.

The first week of class was awesome, then the labs started and there wasn't much help from either the TA or teacher. CSI department at Albany is atrocious. Most people drop it as their major. He's a good guy but material was boring. We were the first class to be taught in Java style and no one seemed to know what was happening.
