I took the wolves class. It was my favorite one at Bing. One of the few professors who really makes you think about different perspectives. Mostly watched movies and discussions about the videos and readings. He is very approachable, soft-spoken and a nice guy. Would definitely recommend.

He is pretty lenient and knowledgable. The course work is not necessarily relevant to anything else, but that isn't really a reflection on him as a professor. If you do the readings and homework weekly, you will pass this class easily. There is a few brief and easy group projects, but overall the class is really not bad for a 2 credit class.

This class is way too much work for 2 credits. Projects are very work intensive. Nothing like the description. We just sit around and talk about hypothetical situations and watch the Twilight Zone. He will also cancel class and have us write papers instead. Doesn't help us learn. Never responds to emails. Don't know my grade because he doesn't tell

Catalano was a great professor for this class (Animal Ethics). While the lectures each week varied significantly, there was always something to do. Participation is key to keep the class moving. You'll have to read a few books that are long, but if you split them with friends you're golden.

He was an all around pleasant guy. We watched some documentaries, we had some great discussions and I felt he was really down to earth. While some of the lectures went longer than I would have liked, the class was fun and wasnt very difficult overall.

Dr. C is a cool teacher. He's obviously very passionate about the subject, yet the class was super laid back and relaxed. A bit too much reading outside of class (often for things we didn't even talk about) but class discussions were still interesting enough for anyone with a remote interest in wolves or philosophy.

Catalano wants to make sure everyone passes his class. Tests are open book & open notes, so if you keep up with lectures, you're set. Homework is graded pretty liberally, and if you submit things on time, you're pretty much guaranteed at least a B. Boring material, but his sense of humor makes up for it.

Professor Catalano is the nicest and most helpful person you can ever meet. There is no other professor I know that works as hard as he does, for YOU--the students. Everything he does is for the benefit of the students. He will cut through all the bureaucratic BS to help you. Classes can be hard but pay attention and ask questions. Nothing to it.

If you are a scholar, do take a class with Professor Catalano. You will learn many new things and also learn to question your own thoughts and beliefs in various ways. His class is much different from others, and although there is a lot of reading required, there is not to much work. You'll definitely learn a lot and he makes the class interesting.

Dr. Catalano is a great professor. The assigned Quizzes and Modules really give confidence in Mathematica programming. His concentration on Ethics makes the Modules the best part of the course as well!

Dr. C. is a great guy. He is always there for the student: you can literally ask him anything. Not only does he teach you the basics of bioengineering in a practical lens, he also makes you think about what you are doing from an ethical standpoint, something that is sorely lacking in most engineering courses.

This was for the wolves class. The class is an easy A for the most part, but you have a lot of reading each week, with a 1.5 to 2 page assignment due every week. Material is interesting, but readings are very annoying. Come to class and do the assignments and you're fine.

Dr. Catalano is an amazing professor. He is an easy grader because his focus is more on our understanding in discussions in class. He shows us many different viewpoints on similar topics to help us get a broad understanding of the topic. This class was great. He's a VERY nice person, and I'd encourage anyone to take a class with him if possible.

Dr. Catalano is a really nice professor. I loved the material and I learned a lot from him. Read tons of books and watched tons of videos in the class. You will learn stuff that you will NEVER touch in any other classes in BU. His scholar classes are very inspiring and informative.

Comment:
This class is merely a platform for Dr. Catalano's heavily biased beliefs. While it is supposed to be an engineering ethics class, there is little or no material of use for engineers during the day-to-day events of their careers. He seems more interested in turning us into environmental activists than morally adept engineers.

This is one of the worst classes I have ever taken. We have to pay $70 for two books he wrote that are only vaguely coherent and then write critical essays on them. This man should not be allowed to teach this class.

He's a good guy, and easily approachable. Grades easily for this class. You must attend class everyday AND Stay Awake. Tests are straight from the notes, so pay attention. Do Not make mistakes on the test, because one wrong question will set you in B territory.

May put you to sleep during class, but a relatively easy grader and tester as long as you don't make dumb mistakes. He dismissed HW journals that we had to do and the ME424 Final when he was impressed by our lab projects in 441, and because we had a lot of other stuff going on.
