Great professor! Very caring, funny, and warm! His lectures can be a little long, but the content comes straight from the book and his notes are very thorough, so you can always double check the information later.

Nice, funny guy but lectures can be boring. 3 assignments which are fairly easy. Tests can be intense but he doesnt have a set grading scale so if the highest grade is an 85, that's an A. Python is easy to learn, just practice; even practice coding w/ pen & paper so that you really know the syntax for the tests.

When he explains things it's pretty confusing and when you ask questions he has no idea what you're asking and answers a completely different question. Read the book word for word and you'll pass. I skipped at least 8 classes and he didn't care so that's cool. He's really nice but clueless.

Loved Pothering. So freaking funny - all this dry humor that the asleep kids never even heard. A total joy each class. LOVED IT, take him, enjoy.

Expect a lot of work, YOU DO NOT NEED THE BOOK *EVER*, the packets can be confusing but just slow down and read carefully and absorb what you're reading. He doesn't help much in class and it's a very independent class, but if you go to him outside of class he's pretty helpful. I did learn a lot and I would take classes by him again

Comment:
His class heavily relies on packets, and I did not have to pick up the book at all for his class. Dont buy the book, rent it if you have to, but it is not worth full price. He spends half of the class restating what his packet already states. Expect to spend large amounts of time outside of class doing work given in class.

Pothering is a cool guy. He really didn't discuss the material as much as i would have liked, and everything you do is in packet form. Expect a lot of activities and assignments without a lot of time to do them. He is helpful if you ask him out of class, though. Overall, I'd take another class of his.

Its great that he creates notes for you to have, but he then proceeds to read word for word from the notes in class. Additionally he only uses the notes so the textbook is utterly useless. Expect a lot of assignments, and tests you can barely finish in the allotted time.

Dr. Pothering is one of the best in the department. He is excellent at teaching so you will learn a lot. He is not easy at all, but he is such a good teacher that you will easily learn the material if you show up to class.

This professor is very unclear, and makes his students feel stupid if they don't understand something. Will grade very rough and piles on homework.

This guy is absolutely ridiculous. He's not helpful even if you go to his office. His assignments are unfair because he gears them towards students who are familiar with python (ei, took it in high school). I've aced all my other programming classes but this guy is the reason why I'm no longer doing Comp Sci. AVOID! Worst professor at COFC.

As a person he is a pretty good guy. As a teacher he is okay, although attendance isnt mandatory if you dont go to class you wont be able to keep up. His tests are very hard and cover only the harder parts of each section. If youre not a math person, don't take him.

He is very nice and extremely helpful. I was nervous going into this class because I've never had any form of Calculus before, but I'm coming out with an A. He posts solutions to the homework online, and I found that to be the best study-aid. Not easy, but definitely doable!

He is a very nice guy, he just is not a good Statistics teacher. He explained at the beggening of the year that he was a computer science teacher and it shows because he is very bad at explaining concepts... if you understand statistics already take him because he doesnt care about attendance or assignments, but if you are not a good math student

Really nice guy and will teach you the entire class over again during office hours if you need help. Learned a lot and he's a great teacher!!
