I do not recommend this class for serious Spanish students. I was hoping for a challenging Spanish class, but I was greatly disappointed. Dr. Tres is alright, but she is more on the aloof and indifferent side. Be prepared to do very little during the two hour class period. Most time is spent waiting for your turn to complete a textbook activity.

All of the homework is online. She is very impatient with her students. There is no rhyme or reason to the order in which you learn things. She shows videos on Italian, Arabic and French things, not Spanish. I honestly wanted to learn something when I signed up for this class. She's not the one to learn it from.

Horrible instructor, she is very unclear about what to do for homework or where to find it. She teaches Spanish an awful way where you do not learn basic things at first, you learn how to say limited sentences. and then halfway into the semester you start learning basic verbs and verb forms and what basic words mean

She’s generous with extra credit, and her door is always open if you need help. That being said, I wouldn’t recommend her because she’s very condescending. She'll lecture for a very short time, and subsequently FORCE students to answer questions. Also, be prepared for her oral test questions, because she only repeats herself once.

OMG, I'm wondering about the mental state of the poster below! Her English is excellent and she speaks like seven other languages, so I guess she must know something about learning languages.

If you have the book, then you'll do just fine because all of the tests except the final are open book. You don't need to study anything. If you actually want to learn Spanish, then don't take this class. She can barely speak English. She just flips through the slides & expects people to be experts on Spanish when she can't teach.

Never again will you have a class this easy. I got a 4.0, and worked less than I ever have before. Granted, I learned literally nothing, but I was in it for the gen ed credit. Everything is online, so feel free to use a translator. You'll have so much extra credit by the end, you may as well skip the final. If you want to learn Spanish, avoid.

She wasn't too difficult, there were lots of take-home/group/partner/open book tests. In fact, I think every single exam besides the final was one of those.

I actually liked the online partt. Very much. I learned a lot and in class she's nice, funny, and very helpful. And the "deadlines and due dates" are PRINTED in the SCHEDULE!

I got an A, but the experience was miserable. No Spanish experience was required, but she used language well beyond our level. She primarily read directly from the book and expected us to learn online; I can honestly say that I learned NOTHING in this class. She was also extremely vague and confusing about deadlines and due dates.

She is sort funny but every class she added history and current events. Her PowerPoints suck but atleast they are from the book. It felt like a highschool class bcuz we had to stay the entire class, we cant text or have laptops out....but she is OKAY...

We're always behind schedule and the syllabus because she insists on doing every single exercise from the book, going around the room multiple times even if everyone understands. Attendance is mandatory but not much gets done in class. A ton of work but she grades rather easy. Offers many chances to improve grade.

Have her right now and she is extremely disorganized. You do the activities at home and in class she goes around the room and asks students the answers. All of class time is spent reviewing activities and watching presentations that none of class time is actually spent with her teaching. Tests are difficult but she gives EC. Greig is SO much better

This was an Honors College class, and when it's said that these type of classes are discussion-based, that's the truth with her. She just talked for the longest amounts of time about extremely random things; fortunately, they turned out to be really funny most of the time. I would recommend her if you want to do a ton of easy busy work for an A.

Professora Tres is hilarious! Her class was always entertaining, and Tres is so up on current events, television, etc. She's a little unclear what will be on tests, and only God knows how her grading system works, but she gives lots of extra credit, so as long as you come to class you're pretty much guaranteed at least a 3.0 in this class.

I love this woman. She has a nice sense of humor and is extremely helpful. Make sure you come to class prepared for the exercises you will be going over. She is very helpful if you don't know the answer when called on. The presentations are laid back.
