You need to show up for the inclass in order to pass this class. You also have to be ready to write papers and to be graded tough on them. I would take your paper with him to have him look at it before turning it in. He will tell you what to fix and what you can do better. The study guides tell you what is on the test so study them. Pay attention.

As long as you do the readings, you should have no problems. If you don't do the work but you know a lot about the topic, you can skate by on the easier assignments. For the more difficult assignments you will need to know what you are talking about or you will do poorly

Although the class is heavy on papers, Professor Butters is truthfully a great teacher! He is very passionate for history and makes the class very interesting. Hes also always ready to help his students succeed! If you approach him during office hours hes very helpful! However, you need to read the chapters, some of the quizzes are tough.

Dr. Butters is passionate about history. He is knowledgeable and knows his stuff. He is a very hard grader, and makes you work for it when he gives you a test. Be sure to read the textbook, though! He likes to give out quizzes maybe once a week. His emails are somewhat vague and I felt like I never got a complete answer when I read his emails.

One of the best professors that i've had thus far. I had an older sibling take him and she put him on a pedestal. Coincidently, I took an interest in history and decided to try a class with Butters. Best decision ever! He's tough, but you actually learn! He knows exactly what he's talking about and makes history fun to learn! I plan on taking more.

First impression, unorganized bought textbook once course started we were told 2 other textbooks were needed. The weekly quizzes sometimes made no sense to the materials we covered. He never gave me feedback he was quick to judge! Upside, I enjoy the topics of research and assignment readings.

Dr. Butters was a solid professor. Although he lectures the entire class period, he really knows his stuff. He also can tell when the class gets bored and tries to change it up or let's you ask questions. There was assigned reading from the book EVERY class but I didn't do a single reading assignment and got an A in the class. Essays are TOUGH.

He was one of my favorite professors throughout the year. He assigned challenging material to read and class discussion/participation is a must. Also, it really helps if you go during his office hours to have him look over your papers and projects.

Very clear instructions and expectations, and his lectures are very interesting and keep your attention the whole time. grading is very harsh though, getting a b can sometimes feel like getting an f. overall a great professor that knows his subjects very well and is always available for students.

Awesome teacher. Challenging but doable. Very clear and engaging teacher. All lecture which can get old, but if you pay attention and take notes you will be golden. He grades papers a little hard and the tests are challening but he is easily one of the best teachers out there

He is difficult but extremely fair. He knows when people slack off and goof off but he is willingly to work with students in order for the to succeed. Anyone that dislikes him is unprepared for the real world. In his classed, he doesn't give you the grade, you have to earn it.

Had him over the summer for film class. He is TOUGH. There is no slacking in his class. But he is very enthusiastic about the material and knows what he is talking about. Very engaging. Tough but fair. A great professor.

Dr. Butters works well with his students. He is not easy, but will work with you if you need help. The people that don't like him are just lazy and just want a blow off class. If you wan't a blow off class don't take him.
