Dr. Heuring was very good for Operating Systems. The class was relatively easy and he gave you everything you needed to know for exams. I also learned a decent amount.

Comment:
Extremely boring lectures. Really only need to study his powerpoints before the exams for making your cheat sheet. You know exactly what to expect for the exams as he gives you a practice one. He will always say you will have more to do than he will actually assign (we only had one programming project). Extremely knowledgeable though.

I think he's a good guy but it's clear he doesn't like lecturing at all. He stares at the board or projector most of time and sometimes makes power points while he is lecturing. Most of the students in the class skip because of a lack of interest in what he is talking about.

He takes a lot of time to grade stuff but it's not like you need timely feedback in the class. Just make sure he doesn't loose any of your assignments. A little difficult to catch during office hours but will work though a problem with you if you really need help.

Gerry never returned grades for our programming projects...ever! You turn in many assignments and never receive ANY feedback on how well/not well you did. We were at week 13 before we had a test, and it was week 14 before we got any feedback which was our week 13 test back. Then he crams 2 other tests and 2 programming projects in during finals.

Classes were mandatory but many didn't show up due to lack of learning and having interest. When teaching he stares at the ceiling. He isn't much help when you have a question either, even if you go to his office hours. Late to class and rarely returns grades back.I had an interest in the subject and was good in it until this class.

Often Late for class, including exam days. Power points are not very helpful. He's smart, but cannot teach subject. Hardly gives any grades back. Stares at ceiling and talks to class. His "review" for the test tho is often helpful. I would not recommend, but possibly could put up with his teaching some more, or lack of.

often late for class, not very easy to follow in class lectures, which often did not help in completing projects or learning the topic. Also very slow to get grades back. Only one received one prog. project grade back over the whole semester.

You will learn more than you expect in Jerry's classes. He is an excellent instructor and always went above and beyond for his students. However, he expects you to put in some extra effort too. Pay attention to the lessons behind the lessons (algorithms, concepts), they are more important.

Not quite sure if that's the right course number, but he was a very good professor. While he certainly has his quirks, he is knowledgeable and, once you indicate your willingness to learn, he is willing to help.
