Never understood why people don't like him. Easy exams, consistent fair marking, straight-forward material, no memorizing... Works for me. Maybe everyone's put off by his aloof demeanor so they forgot that they just had to show up to class and think a little. He'll also get back to you very quickly via email and have precise answers.

It seems quite a few people aren't fond of this prof, but don't be fooled! Sure, his lectures may be dry at times, the overall he is a very concise, knowledgeable prof. who is very helpful/insightful. It's not the easiest course, but very do-able; he makes the material very interesting and I would highly recommend taking his class. pce

I thought this was one of the most interesting courses. I thought I was interested in evolution, but it made my want to study more about neurobiology. The prof looks very uptight, but when you go talk to him, he's really nice. He's quick about replying emails and wants to help. So go take this course! btw, txtbk helps for his part in class.

Prof. Pollack's lectures are incredibly boring. He presents vague graphs during class and has jumbled powerpoint presentations. While his email responses are prompt, his tone is frequently less-than-nice and he seems to talk down to you. He needs to work on his presenting ability.
